Yeah, remember Carvin Marvin at the USPS? Looks like it is Ford's turn.

Ah yes, the ol' build more trucks and SUVS strategy. While they are at it they sprinkled in a little EV magic and *poof*! profit!

Not sure how spending less on cars will translate to making more EV cars, though. Apparently Tata will need to come through for them.

If they're not selling the marketplace is telling you something. Sucks for US jobs though.

repeat of late 90's early 2000's. Ford let cars get stale, and pushed trucks / suvs.

New guy, new level of mistakes.
Why change your mission statement every time you change leaders, which seems too often. No such thing as core values.
Kind of like GM in the 90s snuffing out the EV1 and buying Hummer. And remember when the big manufacturers were buying small nich market models for top dollar, only to either sell them off at a discount or kill them (Saab).
Always a new direction, that takes them nowhere.

This isn't just Ford though, GM and FCA are also cutting back on slower selling models. Trucks have a higher profit margin and until CAFE or gas prices dictate otherwise I see this trend continuing.

Because the previous guy got fired behind those principles. A privately held company can stick to whatever they feel is correct over longer time horizons. Public companies swing with earnings. Not saying it's right or wrong but that's the landscape
