    I'm new to the SHO tuners. I'm used to chipped diesels were you have to provide the PCM numbers to get tuned. I know someone selling a SCT BDX Tuner for Ford SHO and has a 3 tunes on it form SSi and 2 tunes from unleashed on it. It was tuned for a 2015 SHO and I have a 2016. Anyone know if tunes are pcm specific or just SHO Specific. Thanks

    PCM, they most likely will not work on your car.

    Ok thanks , so for future reference when i do decide to go the tuner route i will need to provide PCM info for tunes?

    They will ask for your ECU strategy and maybe ECU SWPN depending on tuner.

    Both of which can be retrieved with which ever tuning device you go with.

    Please - no matter what you do..... only go with 3 options for tunes!!! Either LMS, Unleashed, or Gearhead!

    First I heard of Gearhead, I went with Brew City Boost, I did a fair amount of research and could not find anyone unhappy with them. The guy who reads the logs an updated the tune did it in a very slow an methodical method which I like. LOL I liked the name and I try to help out the little guy when I can, has anyone heard something I should know. Have a great weekend.

    AJTURBO! very happy. Tuned all my cars previously, this the relationship and tune ever. Generally speaking I rarely speak out much on tuners but this the exception. ...

    Just have a couple more questions reguarding tuners. My car is a California emission car but now sits in Midwest. Will the programmers work without issues on a California emission car. And are SCT BDX programmers vin locked so you can't get a previously used one from another car. Thanks

    And can you use SCT BDX on a 2016 SHO? They don't list them as compatible with the 2016 SHO.

    Most states that do emissions testing use the cars OBD to verify the car is running properly, meaning if the car had an issue or if emissions components were removed or disabled the car would most likely throw a code or if it's something a tuner turned off in the tune the OBD monitor for that function would not be set and cause a fail. On a mildly modded SHO the only change the should affect this is the cats if you get downpipes. tune/3bar tune/CAI etc should have no issues.
    I know CA is different but I wouldn't expect the Midwest to be so strict.

    Thanks for the replies , i will be picking this forums brains as I get more comfortable with tweaking my SHO. I been modding my Diesels for years and this tuning of these newer cars is going to be a learning curve for me.:scratch:

    I can't answer your CA emissions question, but yes the tunes are specific to each cars' strategy code, which after you receive a tuner, you need to hook it up to your car to get that code and then send the code back to the tuner before they can send you a tune.

    Tunes are usually about $150 from whoever you go with, so if you buy a used tuning device, factor the additional cost of a tune into that. With LMS, I believe they charge around $300 (don't quote me on that) to transfer ownership of their tuning device to a new person, but the best benefit of their device is if you get a different Ford vehicle, you just pay shipping to send the device back to them and they will tune your new vehicle free. I had a 2011 and recently upgraded to a 2015, I think shipping cost me $15 bucks or so and blam, the new car was tuned within a week of me getting it.

    I've used LMS, Unleashed and AJPTurbo. Unleashed and AJP are both a couple tenths quicker 0-60 than LMS, but my car runs slightly lower boost psi's with the LMS tune, so I feel like in the long run I will probably get more miles out of the turbos running their tune. My 2011 I bought with 102K miles, put the LMS tune on it and sold the car with just under 170K miles, never had any major repairs.
