I hope it is as well. And I'm pumped
Because nothing since I've felt this issue has ever made so much sense. The guy who initially diagnosed, actually referred me to the shop down the road as they deal with these things more than them (they are more of a transmission shop) which to me shows that they arent just about the money... but instead helping figure out the issue as I've spent enough teyomg to already.

so annoyed - now they don't think it is either turbos - was suggested throttle body problem but wasn't comfortable replacing. it's getting worse and worse so I know it's only a matter of time before a code or light comes on. I will update!

I could be wrong about both of these and I hope others can correct me. But, I thought that smell was usually I sign of PTU failing, and also I think if the PTU is overheating the the PCM will limit power. Seems plausible at least that this is your situation. I have no personal experience with these problems though.

A vacuum leak can absolutely give you a lose of power. I had a 2004 Cadillac Deville that had that problem - turned out to be a split in a hose that ran under the intake manifold. Let us know how it goes.
