Hi there, new to this so please excuse me if this has been asked 100 times.
I just bought a 2015 SHO and I've noticed that the F-150 of the same year and engine has 420 ft lbs of torque. While my engine has 350. Anyone have an explanation? And how might I go about unlocking that extra torque? It's gotta be in there somewhere! Lol

Truck Ecoboost 3.5L is a different engine. With a tune, you can get a lot out of the SHO though ;)

Forged rotating assembly and bigger turbos in the truck, to start with.

The truck has twin independent variable cam timing. Our car only has intake variable cam timing.

The turbos are different and depending on the year VERY different.

The truck also has a transmission that can handle more torque.

Well, I wonder what a tune on the truck will produce? I was disappointed as well when I saw the numbers on the trucks! With all the sedans in the market making crazy power I think the SHO is the least powerful.

The Gen2 3.5s make serious power with just a tune 450hp/500tq on a 93 tune 500/600 with some E. I think even the 2.7 trucks can get into the 12s with just a tune. The earlier ones don't make as much power but still more than the SHO.

The truck engines have gone through a complete transition since 2015, and have always used a different block due to powertrain orientation in the vehicle. Few truck ecoboost components are the same from 2015 to 2019, as Ford has focused engineering resources mainly on trucks. Our SHO motors are basically the same since minor updates in 2013.
But I look at it this way: I'm driving a 4400 lb. couch with heated and cooled massaging seats, getting 22 miles per gallon, adaptive cruise, will park itself, and turning high 12's in the quarter mile!
I've had many musclecars in my many years, and the SHO is superior to all. You can buy a rare better performing sedan, but you won't like the price. PS I've beat every pick-up that ever dared to race me, Dodge, Ford, or Chevy.

I’ll second that. I have a coyote powered Mustang and the SHO on auto octane is every bit as fast and a hell of a lot more comfortable. I don’t even have a desire to drive the Mustang anymore and would get rid of it if the wife wasn’t such a Mustang fan. We sold her beloved v6 Mustang to buy the 5.0 originally. Guess I’ll just have to put a Roush supercharger on it this summer. Maybe I’ll like it more then. Lol
