I'm all for a high-po version of the Fusion, but not SHO. The names Taurus and SHO are married just like Camaro and Z28 are. Could you just imagine the rage that would've erupted if GM had released a high performance Colbalt Z28?

A super-Fusion would need to be AWD though. High performance front wheel drive cars are a thing of the past.

The MKS will almost certainly be heavier (Lincoln usually has thicker glass and more insulation for better noise reduction) and have higher-quality interior materials (f'rinstance, I don't expect to see Bridge of Weir leather in the SHO). The extra $$$ for the MKS also gets you Lincoln's longer factory bumper-to-bumper warranty (4 years/50,000 miles, vs. Ford's 3 years/36,000 miles).

FWIW, the base MKS (D37/FWD) is ~$500 more than the SHO; I'd bet a similarly-optioned EcoBoost MKS will be almost $10K more.

thanks for the info. i wasn't real sure, i was just told with x-plan i got a much MUCH better deal than walking in on my own. i have to get in touch with him to find out, but i'm fairly certain that if things go good i should have my green/black 2011 to match my green/black 91 next year. this will be the first vehicle i've financed, i'll have a 12-15 thousand dollar down payment, and a co-signer with immaculate credit. i cant wait.

hopefully the SHO is not excluded from the x - plan and the dealer wil see 15 grand in cash and be willing to play ball.

Good points. I had glossed over the consumer credit market when I was thinking about this. Consumer credit seems to be a little healthier up in here in Canada and the auto makers are still offering reasonable leasing packages.

Also, I was thinking that the SHO will be targeted at wealthier market ( junior executives and such ) where leasing still makes sense.

A lot of people seem to enjoy those FWD cars just fine.

e: you're right on the name though, Taurus and SHO are married. Which kind of sucks IMO because I think I like the Fusion more in general.

None of those are the SHOs market. Never have been. The original $22K in '89 is the equivalent of the $40K today. No offense, but it ain't college kids that are gonna buy it new.

The AWD makes it very sweet.

Ad I'll bet the EcoBoost won't fit in a Fusion.

I wonder since they were shoving the 3.0 Duratecs into the Contour SVT's if they will try that with this motor?

Agree completely. You going to get one, Ron? I am being seriously tempted. Normally I like to wait a couple of years on a new model, and the Gen III is still running great, but I really am tempted...

for those concerned about the rear, i had my reservations as well but in person its actually really nice. i really enjoyed the press day and the plant tour! and the fact that funk master flex was at the factory and not a one of us were paying any attention to him. lol the car was great and i think we scared the press when we cheered when they rolled them out!

Ryan we did good.. we did real good! :thumb:

That was kind of funny the only guy who really noticed it was him was Tim LOL!!

I agree on the rear, people seem to be iffy on it and as was I at first but when i saw it in person I am really starting to turn around. :)

Oh, I know they aren't anywhere close to being in the same class. I was just throwing out names of FWD cars that seem to be universally praised when it comes to handling and performance without the added cost/weight of an AWD setup. Chris says the days of FWD performance are dead, but I think that an HO Fusion with FWD and a manual trans would satisfy a lot of enthusiasts on this board that may think the new SHO is too bulky and expensive.

I can only Imagian that the way i feel now is the same way my dad felt 20 years ago. I was first introduced to SHO's in 94 when my dad finaly percuised an 89 used. I knew nothing of the car before that day and after words All i can remeber him saying is ever scence he read about that car he knew someday he would own one. I feel in love with the 89 and i'm on my second. I was worry about bring back the sho badge for a quick fix last ditch efort of refifing the taurus but know I'm glad to say that one day I well own that car and i just hope i can pull it off in less then 5 years.

I don't mind it. What I can't stand is when people put an SVT sticker on the current SHO. Lame lame lame lame.
