Hi kurtis from las vegas nv and mound mn

I have worked with 3.0 sho motors in our Bonneville cars top speed 221.40 as a record mile both directions and it looked nothing like a sho but was front wheel drive We have a 3.0 sitting in the shop that was dynoed at 410 on a superflow engine dyno and it needs a good project to find a home in and get it spinning hard and fast again.

I am just finishing up a 3.4 v8 with twin turbos for a ford street rod build - this one too looks nothing like an sho and is worse yet rear wheel drive! no performance numbers yet but we hope to get to a chassi dyno in the spring.

thanks for your posts and shares

Welcome in. I'd like to know more about the 3.0 engine. What has been done to get the numbers you have out of it?

As you can see in one of the photos we built a large plenum and used two stock throttle bodies (not shown) sucking thru two 7.3 powerstroke filters in a front of car air ram. the class size is 3.0 l so we cut the crank to a smaller journal with a carrillo rod to give it a bit of a shorter stroke and then added a little bore with a forged piston to give us the same 3.0 max the cam design comes from the yamaha motorcycle and the valves and springs set to be sure we can spin up to 10.5k sadly with the overlap and the build for long pulls on the salt flats this motor is not much to idle below 2500 rpm

for fuel we hang an injector @12 total one over each intake runner and we have the cc's stager one richer then the other on each cylinder so 6 lean and 6 richer to increase combustion sworrel as the Cam lobes too are timed to promote the sworrel and scavenge in the chambor at the higher rpms eg) one exhaust opens earlier then the other and one intake same I don't remember if it is the rich or lean cylinder but I do remember the desire for a diagonal flush of exhaust gasses on the valve overlap. We ran with an electromotive spark and fuel control today I would use EFI's mega squirt products. I think the world of this little motor and had hoped to add some forced induction to get her up to double what she has done but the racing stop abruptly and I am looking for a good project for her - thinking of pikepeak or some unlimited environment where to smaller 3.0 would make sense ??? partially here to open ideas to flow or to find an interested party in this developement of the 3.0 thank you for asking kurtis

Very interesting. Thank you for sharing your builds.
Is the motor in MN or NV?

Todd (TCI) rand a SHO powered Pikes Peak car for many years. Good tuning is needed because of the very large elevation change throughout the time trial.
