Went down to the drag strip with a couple of work buddies to see what my GH tuned SHO would do now that the air is finally getting cooler. My car is a 2017 PP that has a 3-bar MAP, a K&N drop in filter, and a GH tune. Previous best without the tune and 3-bar was 13.42 at 105.92mph on a 2.01 60ft. DA was about -700ft that day.

Let the car cool off for about 45 minutes and went to the line. Shifter in "D" (as per Gearhead's instructions) and launched at 2000rpms. Car went 12.72 at 108.19mph on a 1.81 60ft. Da was +600ft. There's definitely some room for improvement as the weather conditions will gradually improve as we go further into fall. The goal is 12.5 at 110mph, as well as supplementing the tune with a cooler stat and colder plugs.

Ran a second time, but the car was warmer and I screwed up the launch. Oh well, looking forward to Oct/Nov runs and better performance.

Very nice! I am getting a gearhead tune shortly... It will be interesting to compare it to my current LMS tunes.

Nice!! Now buy yourself a intercooler, Dp's and a E30 tune and skip the fifty's straight down to the 12.0s.
Congrats!! Maybe we will meet up sometime,I love Cecil it like 3 hours from me..

That gives me hope to see a 12. I’ve been trying to go but haven’t made it yet. Same mods, different tune.

By the way, what was next to you running a 10.5?

Would love to throw more mods at the car, but I'm saving up for settlement on my new house in the next 3 months, so for now it will have to stay the way it is (except for a stat and plugs, and maybe some dataloging and a slightly revised tune). It's unfortunate, because my 2 work buddies are solidly into the low 12s with their cars, and for the next year at least I won't be able to keep up.

I will be down there several times between now and when the track closes in Dec, taking advantage of the mineshaft air Cecil is known for in the fall.

It was a built 67-69 Camaro. There were a lot of crazy fast cars there that night testing their combinations in preparation for an event the next morning.

    - Do you have the GH intercooler? I was thinking of buying. I have '13 PP with Corsa cat back exhaust, bar 3, Tasca Ford Tune, Hennessy K&N cold air intake. Wondering if i get the GH intercooler and update my tune with GH tune.

Planning on heading back down on either Friday night Oct 11th, or Saturday morning Oct 12th. Hopefully the weather improves, as Summer has been refusing to let go here in the last week.

Sent Matt at Gearhead an email inquiring about updating my tune to an E30 version. I have access to Sunoco E85-R, and can do an exact E30 blend. That should surprise my friends in their G8 and Scat Pack... just hope he gets back to me before this Sat morning!

Went back down to Cecil today and ran three times. Got a new best on the last run... DA was a bit worse than previous best (+800ft). Still came away with a 12.69 at 107.93 on a 1.82 60ft.

I was getting some front wheel hop which was a first for me in this car. Guess I was giving it too much throttle after the initial launch. Have to practice that a little more, as I should be able to get my ET into the 12.5 range with a 1.7x 60ft.

Am waiting to send Matt at GH some datalogging info until I get my pre-gapped 542 plugs from him (should arrive this Monday). Then he should be able to update my tune to a E30 version. That should really surprise my buddies!

Oh, and my friend's stock Scat Pack was running DRs this time around and went 12.1 at 114mph. I definitely have some catching up to do.

Do you have an XDI-35? I didn't think he would do an E30 tune without one...

There are several members here who have E30 tunes on the stock pump. They have proven its not necessary. I realize every car is slightly different, but for what I intend to do with the car, I shouldnt need to upgrade.

The E30 tune will only be used as a “race tune” for my car. I’m getting a 5gal can of VP Racing C85 fuel, which is a guaranteed 85% ethanol mix. The stuff out of the pump is all over the place with the ratio. With 5gals of actual E85, and 14gals of 93 pump gas, you get a spot on E30 mix. After the gas gets low, I will swap tunes back to the AO and fill with 93.

Either way, I will be putting the plugs in this weekend, and sending them my datalog files. We will see what they say...

Congrats on your new PB ! I think when you get your E30 tune dialed in, it will improve significantly. Did you have wheel hop on the launch or 1-2 shift? With the increased torque my car has started getting bad wheel hop on the street. Some on the 1-2 shift at the track. I need to figure out what can be done to the suspension to curb this or reduce power :eeeeeek:. Damn fwd based awd..... I have considered the possibility that its the original stock engine / tranny mounts having too much play.

The DiCunzolo mounts will fix your wheel hop issue.
