He sold it to SHOsource
I have an idea for how to do it but it would by no means be cheap...
what happened to 5k for the set!
I was talking to adam marrer and he said there is a local shop to him that maybe he able to make the gear set for a good price... but I don't know if its soild or just here say!
why did the gb go up to 7500??
I was contemplating if its around 5 k... but would love for it to way way less that that even!
any news on this??? its gonna happen or no?
$5k USD for our set was 10 years ago, and before the USD tanked (so it would have been a lot more than $5K CDN back then). Our parts are Canadian, so with the USD only worth par now, I would make less money at $8k now than I would have at $5k back then. Of course, nobody has $8K to spend on a gearset for an SHO.
This thread is nearly 5 years old, and it fell apart because not enough people could put their money where their mouth was. Our original 4-set run 10 years ago saturated the SHO market. Only 2 of those were installed right away. The last 2 sets were bought and sold and bought and sold again before finailly getting installed. The last set was finally installed in an N/A car about 10 years after it was built.
It's easy to say 'oh I can get a gearset made for $5k', but the reality of finding someone to do 2-3 sets for that price AND finding people with the money to lay out ahead of time make it a non-starter.
since you put it that way.. yes i agree! .. would be nice to have though!
We bought a full STi drive train (flywheel to brakes) with 40k miles, shipped for $5,500 last year. Makes even a 5 grand SHO trans seem silly. .
If I had a supplier to make me a dog box or at least a trans that won't break input shafts or gears I'd pay 5000 pretty fast.
Considering these SHOs are in power/performance territory Ford probably never thought they would be, having a supplier of a sturdy trans would be an excellent idea. Now if you speak of ROI, value of car vs cost of upgrade, okay, probably doesn't make sense then.
Well, just wait around for one of the 4 sets to come up for sale. Chances are the owner would have to die first ... I know I'd never sell mine - there's no point having a blower SHO without one - but at least I won't have it buried with me
Pretty much at this point is to just wait and let technology progress to make it affordable.
Meanwhile I still have fun with mine....on my second tranny but I don't beat it up like I use to.
Single digit boost and drive it like a sane person. If you get bored with that, sell it and move to something else.
Sanity is overrated!
