Well My fellow SHO bretheren Project “Whine” group buy is ready to roll.

Project "Whine" is a Heavy Duty Transmission gear set for our SHOs.

    1) Third and Fourth Gear will be removable.

    2) They will have a slight helical gear cut (but will whine some, hence "project whine")

3)It will still use the same syncos (not Dog engagement)

4)1st thru 5th gears are HD.

5)price will be @ $5000.00 plus shipping for a complete gear set.

    6)gears are rated @ 500-600 h/p range

7)gears will be warranted for manufactures defects only. Warranty will not cover h/p over gear rate or abuse (i.e. not shifting fully into gear) or bad installation.

I will need a $2500 deposit to secure your spot for the first run of 10 people. FIRST COME FIRST SERVED. If you are number 11 or more you will have to wait for another 9 people for another run.

Once 10 people commit it will take about 10-12 weeks to be made. Once they are made I will notify you when they are ready. When I receive the remaining balance ($2500 plus shipping) I will ship them to you.

Important **** Payment must be made to North Texas Performance in the form of a cashier's check or money order only...no credit cards*** No refunds will be made on deposits.

    Send deposit to:

    North Texas Performance
    2829 Sea Harbor

Include with your deposit the following information:

    Name
    Daytime phone number

Kudos to you for getting another gearset run going! I wish you the best of luck, gearsets are a tough sell, everyone seems to think they can just change trannies every week. I think people that do that should be shot. :)

I had one name on my list for a potential run #2 for you to contact: thecrew2999

If 5 is not included, is your 4th input shaft gear a 'trace' of the factory gear (since 4th and 5th share the same input shaft gear)? That was one of the things we looked at when we looked at doing a lower priced set last time - make 1st, 4th, and 5th 'traces' on the input shaft, and then you don't need to supply a 1st, 4th, or 5th gear - only an input shaft that will mate up to the factory 1st/4th/5th gears. Then only the 2nd and 3rd are semi-helical with the associated noise (And uber-strength). It's not a huge savings (the money is in the input shaft), but helps a little.

Has anyone broken 1st, 4th, or 5th yet?

Thanks you Mr. Josh. Thats a good question on the 4th and 5th gear. I will ask them on Monday as we are going to discuss some technical issues just like that one. I'm also going to have them make the input shaft thicker just after the splines.

I have never broken 5th. Well, not yet.

p.s. I tried doing a search for thecrew2999 but nothing is comming up. Is he still a member here? I only get quotes from him.

Yes, 4th and 5th are the same gear, with a different bore and blocking ring cone/teeth. The ratio 'difference' is the different pinion, but you already knew that. :)

I have his contact info. Shoot me an e-mail offline and I'll pass it on.

Did you have a link to the manufacturer Tony? Very interested in a set of these. I will know by weeks end.

If you guys know ANYONE with a turbo, nitrous or SC SHO, tell them about this GB. TQ kills the stock gears. If you have a boosted SHO, sooner or later (probably sooner), your gears are going to blow. YEs, this is a chunk of change, but think how much time and money you have invested in your car. You will get MUCH MUCH MUCH more enjoyment out of your car if you get this gearset. My turbo SHO never had a major problem for the many miles I drove it, EXCEPT for the transmission. I would have been able to enjoy it much more, but it probably spent over half of its life sitting, gathering dust, while I sourced another transaxle. Soon, it will be very difficult to find ANY good transaxles, and when you do, they will have probably 100k miles at least on them. GET THESE GEARS!!! We NEED this GB to happen!! The SHO community can move forward MUCH further with these gears out there in some high-powered SHO's. Spread the word brothers, lets make this happen!

I see some big names in the SHO community that are NOT on this list!!! Where are you at guys? I know you have been through a number of transaxles already. So GET ON THE LIST!!! There is simply NO OTHER SOLUTION to 3rd gear breaking. Cryo treatment DOES NOT WORK!! Shimming DOES NOT WORK!! Shot peening DOES NOT WORK!! Without this product, we are holding back the SHO community by not allowing us to explore the power potential of the Yamaha powerplant. With an HD gearset, we will no longer have to worry with constant downtime due to 3rd gear failures. We KNOW the engine can handle 20+psi of boost without a problem. We KNOW the crank and rods can handle 500ft lbs of TQ no problem. And we also KNOW that 3rd gear will continue to explode everytime we try and use the above mentioned power levels. So come on boys, lets make this happen!!!

So I am here to do my part. Tony, ADD ME TO THE LIST!!!

Don't raise your voice like that, the four trannies that I've done for blower SHOs, that haven't shelled 3rd gear, will hear you.

Nothing else worth saying, and this isn't the place for it.
