Hey all! I've been going to this forum for info for a while and finally decided to join (now that I'm going to sell my 2015 lol). I'm actually looking for opinions on selling price . KBB has it at 19k, but I feel like it's worth more. It's completely stock and in excellent shape. Thoughts? Looking forward to hearing back! Thanks!
Just over 44k on mileage. I assume by "PP" you mean Private Party? If so, yes I'm selling (although I do still owe some on the car). It's a great car, we just needed something bigger for the fam. Hate to sell it actually, but life happens. Thanks!
Performance package. Has a few extras like different brakes, cooling for drivetrain, and a few other things. I think the ballpark from KBB is close. Maybe push to 20 or so. Look at ebay and cargurus (within 200miles of your zip) and see what things are listed for. They are all clustered 17-19k with a little variance for low miles and maybe PP. Not sure if PP makes a big resale difference after 5+ yrs (except maybe for an enthusiast looking for it).
Keep in mind that KBB is at the top end for value, it's the value to use to argue with the insurance company! NADA is more of the real world price. Anyway, as a point of reference in Michigan. Buddy's son bought a 2015, in October 2018, with 29k miles (lease return), for $25k, from a Ford dealer near Grand Rapids (we're in the Detroit area, I drove there to help pick it up).
Ok got it - thanks! I feel pretty stupid not knowing that there is a PP version. I don't think mine is, but how can you tell exactly? I have the original sticker and don't remember seeing anything about PP on that (but can double check).
PP has no spare tire. I was being kind. If it had 4,000 miles, maybe ask $19,950. I did a quick check on NADA, using 44k miles, with my Zip in the Detroit suburbs. These are usually Dealer Retail prices.
A real world check is to check AutoTrader, for about a 100-200 mile radius, and see what real world asking prices are, for both dealers and private sellers.
I'm getting $18,750 on NADA for my area. And, yep - checking AutoTrader is my next step. Thanks again!
It's now listed on Car Gurus & FB for $19,850. I'm not in any hurry to sell (can store for free) and after doing some more research I thought that was a fair asking price. Thanks again for the advice!
@BsSHO try Edmunds True Market Value also. I used a lot of these sites in December when I purchased my 2015. Mine has every option except PP (which eliminates other options that were must haves for me). I paid $17,000 out the door at a dealership in Akron. It had 70k and brand new tires on it. The value on that site is closer to what a dealer would offer you and they have to option to get an offer on your car. https://www.edmunds.com/ford/taurus/2015/appraisal-value/
I actually got more for nonPP because of all the extra options that you get Sold it for 22k last year. The PP can't have nice things lol My signature gives more details on it.
