I understand that this part number F3DZ6c315-AA is no longer being manufactured. All my typical sources do not have the cp sensor for the 1993 3.2 engine. Any help or ideas would be appreciated.

They are out of production. We have been attempting to get a run made by an aftermarket manufacturer but no success yet. You can hunt on ebay hoping for one to pop up. Most have been looking for a used one to make do until a new batch are made. It's a problem for many of us.

Thanks for your response. A clerk at a local O'Reilly Parts found a 'specialty' vendor who listed a 'one off' cp sensor (93-95 SHO 3.2) for $ 400. The parts guys at this O'Reilly's have worked hard for me over the years to find many parts for my 93 ATX, although I am concerned about this strategy. Have you heard if other owners have found a reliable source for the 3.2 cp sensor through O'Reilly's or Autozone?

No we have all been floundering. The prices rose as the supply was running out. They went from $75ish up to $100. Alot of us have looked high and low since the regular supply chain ran out. I never heard of a one off anything from a big box chain but anything is possible. Maybe one off is --been holding this and know there are no more so I'll ask $400 for it. If the store stands by it you could always return it.

I’ve read about you guys having trouble finding these since I’ve been on this forum.

What goes wrong with them? I’m surprised after all this time nobody has figured out a way to fix one. Necessity does breed innovation.

They are very old hall effect electronics at this point. They also are sometimes exposed to water pump leaking out of a weep hole onto the sensor. Plus alot of years with element exposure as they are mounted above a small shutter wheel that spins around the front crankshaft behind the harmonic balancer.

My car is 27-28 yrs old with the original sensor.

It works similar to the sensor in the new turbo cars except they have a sensor that reads a pulse ring (or tone ring) mounted at the back of the engine behind the flywheel.

Has anyone looked at sho motors on car-part.com? There are quite a few on there and they likely have CPS still installed. I have seen very reasonable prices, as low as $150. Just a suggestion for those in need.

If I needed one that would be a resource I would try. I wonder what the book value in computer systems is since the dry up.
I was lucky enough that when members on this forum posted that they were getting hard to find, I scrambled and bought one just in case. These cars are old enough to worry about replacement parts becoming unavailable unless used. The first Gen I cars are over 30yrs old.

There is a run of these to be made by a man named Bill Evanoff with Supercoupeperformance.com for Super Coupes AND SHO's in the not too distant future. Will cost about $200 each. The Prototype worked fin in his SC and he's known about our need for SHO's for some time. It's in the Gen 1&2 SHO groups on Face book. I know Bill personally (I have two SC's and a 93 SHO).

Good to hear that someone might be able to address the shortage of Gen 2 CPSs. A fellow forum member has agreed to sell me a used CPS from his 'parts bin.'

Most CP Sensors hiccup when the water pump leaks on it, shorting it out and killing the engine. Anyone who has had this happen knows that the car will restart once the CPS has dried out enough to give a signal again.

So no permanent damage right? Unfortunately not true. I've tried reusing a couple of compromised sensors. In both cases the car ran fine most of the time, but there were occasions when the car died once fully warm and wouldn't restart for 1/2 hour.

It's possible that there is some residual moisture still trapped inside. I plan on using a hair dryer to try to get rid of it and see if that fixes them. A long shot at best.

I sold him one that came off a motor that was sitting on my barn floor. The mileage was probably less than 20k miles on it. The car that engine came out of was very well maintained and upgraded, it just sat and rotted. I have two more used ones in running cars and two new ones that's the only reason I sold it.

I got lucky and bought two of the last ones from oreilleys or pep boys online. There was a new OEM ford one that sold on ebay for 70 shipped recently, someone got a great deal. The seller didn't know what they had.

Looking at row 52 right now there are quite a few G1 G2 sho's in there. For those who are close to the yards, it might be an idea to pick up a cps. Sure its used, but there are not a lot of options. On the same note, there are a lot more than normal, of 89-95 sho's on row 52 right now.
