Has anybody tried this? On my V-8’s I use Flowmasters. But on a previous Supercharged V-6 3.8 I put Flowmasters on and it sounded awful. Like a 4 cyl. with one of those big cans. I stayed with the dual exhaust look but went with a “one step above stock” quite muffler. I realize that since it’s not replacing the whole system there won’t be much, if any, performance upgrade. But does it sound good? The video clip sounds good. Being relatively inexpensive, if it sounds decent, I’d be happy with that for now. I’ve seen some complaining of rasp in other systems. I definitely don’t want that. The input of your personal experience will be appreciated!

The options for these cars to have an exhaust that is good sounding is very limited. Along with that, the performance gain from one is very minimal too.

An MRT with downpipes ahead of them, I've yet to hear and have too wondered if it would sound identical to the one in the video.

I was told you can't use Flowmasters on forced induction cars because of their chamber design or whatever - not sure how much truth or how much that matters/affects performance but passing along what I was told.

? Not sure what that means. We are not Flowmaster. We manufactuer our own T304 Stainless Steel exhaust systems. Flowmaster is a different brand.

If you actually read this post, the OP said he's used Flowmaster on all his cars including his supercharged engine and continued to say it sounded like crap. So I'm letting him know about Flowmaster...

Yes, using any chambered muffer for FI or Nitrous isn't optimal. The increase of exhaust volume the chambers become a restriction.

Not impressed. Sorry. I still don't think it's possible to make the 3.5 EB sound "good", as in V8 throaty. I recall putting a "Cherry Bomb" on my mother's slant six Plymouth Duster. That lasted only a few days until I donated it to my friends SBC Impala project.

Very few v6's sound good in my opinion esp the EB 3.5 sounds remarkably terrible.

Sound is subjective. Much like the saying, “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.” One man’s music is another man’s noise. With that fact in mind this topic, at least for me, is closed. I installed the system last Friday. As far as I can tell, from the surveillance cameras here at the compound and the start up and idle tests I did, it does sound pretty good outside the car. From moderate to WOT it sounds decent inside the car as well. But, and here’s where the problem comes in, between 1800-2500 rpm the drone was unacceptable to me. You spend a lot of time in that rpm range with a DD. Installed on Friday, reversed on Monday. I could not wait to get my quiet sport sedan back. Having the drone rated at a 2 is a bit specious. But the product is clearly well made from quality materials. So if you’re someone who thinks you’re less sensitive to such sounds PM me. I’ve got a deal for you!

My Magnaflow cat-back was suppose to be the most tame of all the cat-backs available and guess what?.... the drone was horrible and I failed to anticipate this! I thought there might be a "break-in," period and the drone would get better. By the time my head was about to explode I went back to my exhaust shop and they got rid of my stock exhaust. So they ended up replacing the Magnaflow mid-muffler with a much longer one - it actually worked. No drone and sounds decent to me.

I was hoping everything turned out better for you. Magnaflow products are great, and work. Glad the bigger mid muffler worked.

You would have thought I’d learned my lesson with the supercharged 3800 mentioned in OP.

Honestly, downpipes and third cat removal will probably give you the sound you are looking for.

I’m sure you may very well be correct. But when I stated this was a relatively inexpensive route, in my OP, that was if it had worked out. Now it’s an expensive reminder that sometimes you can go just one step too far. Plus if I went the route you suggest, and made that much of an investment, a nice sounding exhaust would be a bi-product. In that case I’d want to be investing in significant hp gains. Ones that the manufacturer could substantiate with dyno sheets. For now it was nice to just go for a ride today and not have to either feather the throttle, stand on it or manipulate the paddle shifters to stay out of that band!

Mine was the Chevy version. A 2004 Impala SS. That only lasted until the 2006 came out with the 327 v-8. Had to get that!
