I had no fitment issues at all when replacing my Y pipe with the Magnaflow one.
Probably a bad/damaged one here and there. It's too bad that the relationship between demand and price doesn't always get updated.
If we can have a good technique to restore gaskets, it will be useful to restore the ones that are back order everywhere. I'm searching a solution for my front cover right now...
Let us know if it's works.
Here is my theory..... The gaskets get hard from absorbing oil and the more volatile components of that oil are driven off leaving behind carbon. The lacquer thinner will pull this out as you can see when it darkens and the gaskets swell and get more pliable. You have to be careful and not leave them in the thinner too long as they will swell and disintegrate is left too long.
The Rislone is just meant to replace the thinner, or at least dilute what is left in the gasket material.
I assume that if this step is not taken it would make for a weaker gasket over time as the thinner would eventually be driven out of the gasket material, but don't really know.
