Hey guys, I've been a bit out of touch over the last year or so relocating to Texas and settling in, but its time to start focusing on my 2011 Sho a bit more.
I lived in Cali for a couple of years so i was limited to the Stage 4 tune but because of the limited octane in Cali, i was running the 91 stage 4 tune. I'm curious to see what up to date tunes if any Livernois has out there to load.
Although this car is a daily driver, I only put about 4k miles on her a year, so i'm not worried about the level of tune but don't want to get into Meth at this time
I already have the 3 bar, stat and air-raid intake, but aside from loading in the 93 octane, is there a better up to date tune from Livernois ?

    thanks,

There are "newer" tunes available, but "better"?? That's questionable, and subject of many threads.

You would be well advised to do some searches, and read up on the shifting issues reported by Livernois users (myself included.)

You may actually be fortunate to have NOT updated your tune.

There's actually a vendor in Texas you'd want to consider. Especially given the two of you could have actual face time, which is priceless nowadays.

do you have E85 in any of the fuel stations near you? a good E30 tune is a better step than 93. you might have to change tuners but that might not be a bad thing.

Any tuner could have tuned you for 91 octane. There are two tuners I would recommend. AJPTurbo and Gearhead.

I also recommend a E30 tune as well if E85 is readily accessible.

I highly suggest you spend a little time reading some more recent threads regarding Livernois before spending anymore money with them. I know I’m not the only one who switched tuners more recently for a number of reasons.

I was convinced the updated Livernois ‘toon’ sent to me late last year was going to destroy my engine and/or transmission. It was free, but you get what you don’t pay for. I went with Gearhead, out of Texas, and I absolutely love my car again for the past six months.

Since you can’t datalog with them I think most people running their tunes have no idea how they run. I have a log last winter where fuel pressure dropped to 800psi at the rail. Loaded the GH tune and it was instantly double that.

The other "problem" with their newest touch screen device, is that they literally will hold your stock tune file, and any performance tune files "hostage" in their own cloud.

Which is crap, because your stock file is yours, and yours alone. You, or any others shouldn't have to beg to get access to them.

    Be very leery.

Well it seems that the tides have changed with who has the best tunes from just a year or so ago ??
based on this thread , i may just continue running what I have until things get sorted out in the tuning world.
I will monitor the information out here for awhile before making a decision on what to do next.

    thanks for your candid feedback.

For what it's worth. I've been running the LMS tune for a little over two years now. I echo the comments that many people have had here, their initial SHO tunes were horrible and if it wasn't for the fact that they are local to me I would have jumped ship. I wasn't able to get above 4500 RPM before the car just gave up and fuel died off. I would not have recommended them even six months ago.

However, living in MI, I was able to work closely with LMS and got my tune worked out. I received nothing but professional assistance when speaking with them (in person and phone). I ended up popping for the high flow fuel pump and upgrading to the new LMS MyCalibrator tuner. IMO it's not as good of a device as what Gear Head is offering but, their new tunes are spot on and I've been VERY HAPPY. They've fixed their fuel starvation problem even before I installed the new fuel pump so no more drop off at 4500. The new tune feet strong, stable and good for daily use. Shifts are firm when casually driving and turn aggressive at WOT. When I put the car into sport mode all bets are off. This thing is a monster and I'm routinely surprising people. My favorite line..."but it's just a Taurus."

I'm not sure what BPD was referring too with holding the stock tune hostage. I have access to it and it's safely stored on my tuner with a backup in the "cloud".

PS: This was my first post. :)

    Thanks for the info.
I am getting ready for a tune and was planning to go with LMS.
I kinda liked the whole Hurricane Bundle thing, lol
Now I guess I will hold back and get more input.....

You were able to work closely with LMS because you were local and they guinea pigged you to fix and validate your tune. Ask yourself a question? Why are other tuners doing so much better with this platform when LMS has fallen way behind.

It all has to do with business.

I just recently (last 6 months) found the SHO forum and discovered there were other tuners. I've known of LMS for years back from when I had my Mustang so I naturally went with them back in 2016 after I first purchased my SHO. I don't know if guinea pig is the right word there, more like I pestered them relentlessly until they got it right. I killed them with kindness as my father taught me that you get more bees with honey than vinegar (or something like that). If I had I experienced the same thing as BPD I would have lost my s*** and hulked out on them never to return.

Everything was perfect with their tune right up until I put the downpipes on, then everything went to crap. Had I known about GH then I would have switched immediately and not looked back (especially after reading the rave reviews here). However, now I feel like I'm in too deep to change at the moment having just upgraded to their new tune and tuner. I can say that I am FINALLY happy with the tune of the car. My MPG on the freeway gets ~24 mpg at 80 mph, shifts are solid but not teeth jarring, and the power curve is relentless and very satisfying. It has what I call "shut up power" now. Passengers are in the car, chatting away...then boom, I mash the gas and everyone SHUTS UP. :)

I will say I've certainly heard of very mixed reviews with LMS over the years with my car buddies. Some hate them, some love them with almost no one in the middle ground. I've been through their shop a couple times and they are slammed with projects at all times. I think they may be stretching themselves and the SHO is not their top priority when compared to the Mustangs, Corvettes, Challengers, Raptors, etc... that are eating up their shop space.

To wrap this up though, knowing what I know now and going through what I have I would certainly recommend GH over LMS to anyone not in the MI area. Not everyone has my patience or the ability to walk into their shop at a moments notice to address concerns.

Same story, car was fine until I put the downpipes on. I refer to it as "holy sh*t" power because when I take someone for a ride that is one of the most common things they say right after I floor it.

    Always enjoy driving it.
