Hey guys,
I am a newer sho owner and I have a question. What are acceptable kr readings for stock tune? I am using the sct x4 and recently put it back to stock from an Ortiz 93 tune where I'm used to seeing little kr. I am seeing as much as plus 5 on the stock tune now. Pretty much stock other than that besides some exhaust deletes. Thanks!

Be careful with the "sign" of the KR - + or - mean different things. I THINK, if it was negative (-), it would be retarding. Positive (+) means the system is adjusting for higher octane gas. You running 93?

Check the OAR (Octane Adjust Ratio) too - it will go to a full +1 on 93 octane.

It is opposite. If you are seeing +KR then it is pulling timing. Stock tunes are known to do this.

I'm running 93. OAR is 0.96. Edit negative 0.96

Gotcha - maybe it was OAR I was thinking of.

No worries. It is the opposite on other platform.

Just to clarify.........

If you are seeing positive KR that means the engine is seeing knock and pulling timing.

If you are seeing negative KR that means the engine is adding timing.

Hey bud, Lee here. Is this Eric? Sorry I don't recognize the username.

As others have said, if it's positive (+) KR you are pulling timing (bad) , negative (-) KR is adding timing (good).

What driving style are you using with seeing the +5 KR activity? cruising or wot?

Feel free to PM me if you were having any concerns with your tune and why you removed it, I do show it's been over a year since your last revision (assuming this is actually Eric haha) so you'd be due for an update.

Here to help!

Occasional kr+ isn't really anything to worry about but it definitely shouldn't do for any long period of time. And if it does then you should see OAR climb pretty quick. What MAP sensor do you have installed?

Put the original 2 bar back in. PCM is reading lower than actual manifold pressure and it's throwing everything out of line. Surprised you're not having any driveability issues.

I did. It is my understanding the stock tune will throw a check engine light with a map sensor other than 2 bar.

I don't know that it would pop the CEL right away, particularly with only 2.5 bar instead of a 3. I think it'd depend on how it was driven and what your fuel trims were doing. I assume if nothing else it eventually causes an IPC error but those take time.

2.5 bar? I see that on the F150, not the SHO.

Several places are selling the 2.5bar now as opposed to the 3bar...

Most people will never see more boost than 2.5bars can read and they are half the price since the 3bars are now 100+ bucks.

A 2.5bar map can accurately read up to 21.56psi relative to atmosphere...
