    Good day,

I just got back from having my new Gearhead tune, thermostat, performance spark plugs, and 3 bar Map sensor installed. Man - what a difference. The car shifts super smooth, and just takes off. Very impressed with what just a tune and a few other mods such as spark plugs and a thermostat can do !

I’ve owned my 2014 SHO for over 3 1/2 years and it’s been bone stock. Just over 70,000 miles currently and she’s already had the PTU replaced from Ford, and a complete trans service about 10,000 miles ago.

    Hahahaha yes indeed !
Where should I go next ? ( besides dropping major $$$ on upgraded turbos ).
Would an intake ( like air raid or the like ) make any difference ? From what I’ve read most people say that’s a waste of time and just stick to drop-in filters in the stock setup.

^^^ this is the last of the low hanging fruit. Do you have E85 in your area as a good e30 tune is a big step up over a 93 tune and worth what it take to find a tuner who will do it right with the stock hpfp.

I live out in Phoenix AZ and there isn’t even any 93 octane that I’m aware of, let alone E85.

So I’ve been running 91 octane. Matt said mixing in e85 or some octane boost wouldn’t hurt anything either but I can’t find any gas stations around that have e85 or 93 octane ( unless there’s like one random Shell station somewhere that has it. But all the Circle K’s and others don’t ).

I live in Phoenix and run E30 all the time. Most Chevrons have Flex Fuel. I just mix that. However I have an E30 AJPTurbo tune.

Here in Phoenix is it easy. We only have E54. So half 91 and half 54 is basically E30.

So since the newer SHO’s have the adjustable octane programming, and the peak output reported by Ford is using 93 octane... does that mean a stock tuned SHO could fill up with 10 gallons of E85 and 9 gallons of crap 87 octane and effectively achieve 94 octane? Thus reaping the rewards of Premium Gasoline for less?

On the stock tune it will not be optimal. Remember it is fuel volume you need to look at.

Will I notice a difference if I just switched from 91 to 93 octane ?
