Is the mileage an issue on this used SHO?

This SHO looks really clean, plus it’s got the performance package. It’s just really high mileage. Are these vehicles reliable at higher mileage? Thanks!

There are several well into the 200k mile range. Is it reliable? Only one way to find out. Not sure I would call one with 70k any more reliable than a high mileage one, same stuff can go wrong at pretty much any mileage.

If you are considering this one because it's on the edge of what you can afford, I would not advise buying it. If you can afford several thousand in unexpected repairs, this is the car I would get. I'd rather save several thousand on the initial purchase than pay it up front. Plus a car with that many miles was more than likely driven on the highway a LOT and probably had regular oil changes. I'll take that over a car with a **** ton of startups and short drives any day of the week.

I bought my 2011 in 2015, it already had 102K miles on it. Drove it for another 3.5 years and put almost 70k miles on it and didn't have to do anything but change the oil.

^^ I agree. My worst used cars were the "low mileage cream puffs" because they were not used enough and not maintained well enough. I have had high miles vehicles that were outstanding.

That said, with any of these after 100k miles or so, you have to have enough spare change to replace the turbos because you just never know when one or both could take a dump.

Very true. It looks like this one already sold anyway. Thanks for the replies nonetheless.

I'm selling mine. It's offered at 8k. 2011, 150,000 miles. Owned by me since new. No blo by, used a half quart of oil last oil change, 4 new tires, livernois, airraid, corsa, lowered. Great driver. And yes, almost all highway miles. It's on ebay right now.

Ive had better luck in my higher mileage vehicles actually. The owners generally loved to drive them and took care of them. In the miata world they are not miles, they are smiles. I just hit 90k on my 15 sho and ill keep it forever even if it has 300k on it one day.

I agree with you on the keeping. I'm reconsidering selling mine but I really don't have the room for it. I could rent a spot in a garage I suppose and use it mainly for the winter. These cars are so badas in snow. Just great all around drivers.

The Goodyear guys went nuts over it at the tire store. They claimed it was part of a stealth program in 011 with the SHO's because I removed the rear emblem. The fact it's lowered and has the blo-off valves unplugged gave them a kick.
