    Hi Guys,

My understanding is the SHO/PP has an upgraded cooling system.
Would you still recommend an Intercooler upgrade.
Not sure what the stats are Stock vs PP vs Gearhead Upgrade.

I do plan to put a tune on the car eventually, but not much past that.

    Thanks,

    Thanks, I wasn't sure.
I know the radiator is an upgrade wasn't sure about intercooler.

Looks like quite a pain in the butt, video I saw removed the front bumper, etc..

Everything GearHead sells is worth it.
The intercooler by far is the greatest overall upgrade untill Matt releases his Extreme PTU upgrade.

The stats on the gearhead intercooler vs stock are about a 45 degree difference minimum intake temps. With stock intercooler I was seeing 175 degree IAT's towards the end of a 1/4 mile run at the track, and that was on 50-55 degree days. I think the highest I've seen with the gearhead intercooler was around 130-135 degrees, but that was on an 85 degree day. I have seen as low as 115 degrees on days that were in the mid 70's.

The intercooler "should I buy it" flowchart looks like this:

Is it in stock? If yes, purchase immediately. If no, set aside $800 and ask them every week if it is in stock yet.

Thank you for your input and advice.
I am replacing the stock turbo hoses with ECOPower pipes and Cold Air.
    I also need four tires.
I have to hold off on the intercooler, but it will be a project for the spring.

    PTU Upgrade.
That sounds both exciting and expensive, lol.

Those are both on my list for next year. I've already put way too much money in mine this year.

Took me and a buddy about 3 hours start to finish to install the intercooler and hot pipes. Best to install at the same time since the stock pipes have to come off for the install.

Performance differences were night and day, saw over 45 hp gains and IAT drops from 170 down to 120 degrees.

I made that part up in hopes Matt would reply "yes we will have those in stock soon"

I have a customer that works for a gear manufacturer that recently bought a spare PTU to try to work better internals. We shall see what comes of it, but honestly I haven't seen many PTU failures related to power. I'm currently around 460 hp and have no issues and I'm still on the factory fluid at 77k miles (need to change it just no time yet).

Matt was saying the case flexing was the weak point. Seems likely based on how it operates and definitely would make sense

Possible, but I'd think we would see more with cracked casings, as opposed to just bearing failure. I still think it comes down to maintenance.

What if it flexed just enough to bind bearings or change the load on the gears, but not enough to crack the case? IDK I've never changed my fluid yet, so maybe I'm gambling lol

That is exactly what Matt has said in the past. The case can flex and it puts unneeded strees on the internals.

    Wow, that is impressive.
I'm just not a body person.
I did see a video and it seemed extensive but not too complicated.
