So how do I get the radio out of the console on my 92 without ripping it apart?
You could use the Ford U-shaped tools, tho some have done without, such as this one from OTC
I've been able to use a bent coat hanger in the shape of the Ford Tool
or if you are talented enough, you can use 4 allen wrenches or punches of the correct size, but that's more challenging...
Shish Kabob spears from your kitchen drawer (or Walmart) work perfectly to go in the little holes on each side of the radio and release the retaining tabs. I just wash them and put them back without telling my wife.
That sort of thing happens at my house too, from time to time...
