Is it recommended to run any type of injector cleaner such as a Lucas product through the system periodically?

A lot of people advise against it because of the potential for carbon to damage the turbine blades on the turbo. I ran one last oil change and i didnt damage anything. I was definitely not easier on the car when it was in the tank either

I would change the oil as soon as you empty the tank though. My oil had 1500ish miles on it and was black. Helped my throttle response a little bit and a bit more confident on the higher rpms.

    This is what I used.

There doesn't seem to be issues with dirty fuel injector on these motors. More people are concerned with dirty intake valves.

The concern about damage the turbos is when someone tries cleaning the Intake Valves using something like Seaform or some other cleaner added in large amounts through the intake.

The stuff you add to the tank never sees the valves.

B4black is 100% right about the intake valves not being touched.

I ran a bottle through mine because i was having odd behavior in upper rpms. Injectors had 78k on them so figured might as well give it a shot. Worked for me so assuming my injectors had some build up.

I changed it based on the product reviews recommedations. But glad I did.

Lucas is a pretty good brand so I dont think it would hurt.

The injectors DO get dirty and when they get dirty it is VERY difficult to get them clean. Due to the very high pressures, the deposits formed are far harder and difficult to get rid of than you would see on PFI injectors. The longterm fix is to regularly use good detergent fuel, regularly use Techron Concentrate Plus/BG 44K, and if you are really OCD, periodically have an injector shop clean the injectors.

By regularly use Techron Concentrate does this require an oil change after?

No not required especially if your using regularly, But fresh oil is never a bad thing in my eyes. Plus I oddly enjoy changing oil. Lol

You don’t need to change the oil after you use fuel injection cleaner. It just mixes with the gas in the tank and burns in the cylinder just like normal gas.
