My 98 just recently died on me. My way home lost almost all power. Had it floored, barley moved. Stalled at stops. Would start a bit with pedling the gas. Cams have been welded by FPS. Tried turning crank by hand. Would turn a bit, then get to a point, it wont budge. This car was always well taken care of by me. Bought about 3 years ago. Always seemed to be lacking power at times. Some times she'd run great, most times would feel sluggish. Would it be worth the time and dough, to rebuild it? Car is pretty mint. Can you get rebuild kits for these cars? How difficult is rebuilding these motors? I'm thinking probably bent valve, or possibly piston. Have to rip it apart to check it out. Always owned sho's since early 90s, but this v8 has cost me more than any other one I've ever had.

Sorry to hear it. Until you know exactly what is wrong, its hard to say how reasonable it would be to try to fix it. You are right, though, you will have to rip it apart regardless, so might as well get started if you have any interest in if it is worth fixing at all.

Take off the accessory belt and try turning the motor again. If it turns better, check for a bad accessory like AC or Alternator locking up.

I'll give that a shot, but everything on this car is pretty much new. I can turn crank about a half turn before it locks up. Thanks for the input, ima give it a try. Who knows.
