19 attendees, two SHOs, both ice racers, and these wimps who thought it was cold at Snoqualmie Pass get to put their testicles in their checked bags on the flight home.

It should also be pointed out that the local sho organizations play a very large part in the logistics of preparing for a convention. Next year, the east coast boys will be working their sixes off, just like the west coast boys did for 04 and 07. It takes a hell of a lot more than just a dart on a map when it comes to putting this all together.
An no I'm not jumpin on anybody's case. It just irks me that sometimes some folk lose sight of the amount of work that goes into this once a year gathering.

There's elephant hall at UNL and there's also the haymarket area. Lazlos is a pretty good place to eat/drink with the microbrews and such. La Vista has a cabelas also. It's newer than the one in Kearney and IMO a lot nicer...

there are a couple other museums in Lincoln also that deal with Native Americans and early exploration. We went on a field trip to lincoln back when I was in elementary school. It was pretty lame. Lincoln is also has your typical college town feel with a ton of bars near campus. supposedly it's a good place to go drinkin, but my sister is dumb so I wouldn't take her word for it. isn't there some racetrack out near Waverly/Lincoln also?

Speedway Motors (the repro-rod folks) and their Museum of American Speed are in Lincoln:

Are you Nebraska types writing all this stuff down to make a proposal for 2010, or 2011?

Just was made aware of the following statement from SuperchargedSHOguy.

Here is his statement, and I will follow with a few thoughts:

"Too bad you all bitch about FL... No biggie, it is really no fun and too hot for you all. Its so hot, the women wear bikinis in the summer! Don didn't even respond to Taras and my emails back in '05 and '06 and we had everything figured out for a lovely convention in Orlando, the tourist capital of the United States. Good luck to all that want to host one...we worked our ass off for nothing, hopefully you can do better."

I went back through my notes and e-mails on this, and can't find anything. My memory isn't perfect, especially from 3+ years back, but I find something troubling about the comments above.

If you never heard back from me, why on earth did you "work your ass off" on the thing? Doesn't make sense.

I remember a few inquiries from one or more people on a Florida event, but I never, EVER promised anyone anything on it, and never authorized a full blown research on an event there.

I have considered it, but knowing that we were going to WA and probably (at the time, for sure now) NH right after, I wasn't looking to do another "corner" of the country in 2005.

I would like to see the results of your work if you still have it, but for most proposals, it amounts to recommending a city/location, and maybe from memory a track or few places to visit. Without living somewhere, I can put the basics of a convention together in 1/2 an hour at a computer and with a map. Once we get a location decided on THAT is when the real work begins.

So if you were serious, send me what you have, even if you deep sixed it, you should still have the basics in memory, and that is all I need. Most areas have a selection of hotels, and we can do that later.

If I somehow blew you off, and didn't appreciate your work, then I am sorry, but I really don't remember a massively researched proposal to respond to.

    Let's talk?

This is also a reminder that until we talk seriously, all I need are some ideas on a location. No need to do more till we get past the first step

I thought about it, but with all the bitching and moaning that goes on, IDK?

I really think it could be a goo showing, being that it IS in midwest, and it's central to the coasts (where all the SHO's are).

I'll bounce some ideas around a few guys, and do a little thinking.

Nashua, NH is essentially a suburb of Boston (about 30-40 minutes away depending on traffic), and really is the closest affordable hotel city. $250/night hotels within 10 miles of Boston wouldn't work for a convention.

Add that Boston would have about the worst traffic any Convention has seen, minus maybe SF and Chicago.

Nashua is a great central location with NHMS and NED less than an hour to the North and Boston about 40 minutes. You're 90 minutes to the White Mountains and some incredible roads. An hour or less to the ocean, and to Lake Winnepesaukee. And there's no sales tax in NH, with tons of shopping.

If anyone was thinking about a convention in Chicago it better be in the far, far suburbs.

Like Sheboygan or Galena or Ashkum......

A Hampton beach cruise would be awsome. Might be a little too far north though, no?>
