I have a 1990 Thunderbird Super Coupe that’s insured through Grundy Insurance. I was wanting to insure the SHO through them but they said they don’t offer coverage for it.

Does anyone have their SHO insured through a collector insurance company? Thanks

I'm an insurance agent. If you treat it like a collector car (very low annual mileage) you could try Hagerty or it might even qualify for State Farms classic car rating.

When I bought the 10k mile 89 in 2008, the only company that would give me an Agreed Value policy was Heacock. My commercial insurance agent buddy got with Hagerty, who eventually agreed to insure it after an appraisal, but I already had Heacock in process.

I've stayed with Heacock since then although many companies would now insure a 31 year old car.

My F100 is with Hagerty. They don't even limit the annual mileage, although the state does with the tags that I have on it.

Don't think you'll find a better price than that but a classic/antique car type policy is about having an agreement with the insurance company in regards to the cars actual worth so that amount will be paid in the event of a loss rather than market value.

Try American Collectors Insurance https://americancollectors.com/. ACI is owned by USAA and they will treat you without the Grunderty snobbishness. They have stated value policies with tiers of usage. Generally no tickets or claims within 3 years, and must be garage stored. Commuting to work or daily usage is restricted. They usually do not require appraisals but request photos to protect themselves against deception or fraud. It is your choice of any body shop for estimates or repairs.

Hagerty is pretty great. Full coverage, no deductible, Agreed value, free tow’s, plus extra parts are covered. My Galaxie and F100 both insured with them. I paid $125 a year for the Galaxie and the F100 is $225. No complaints. The car just needs to be at least 25 years old and not your daily.
