    Hello,

I have a 1993 SHo with automatic trans. It has approximately 160,000 miles and runs great. My check engine light comes on after about 15 minutes of driving and will not go out until the motor is turned off. Upon restart, it takes approx. another 15 minutes for the light to come back on. The O2 sensors have recently been replaced so that should not be the issue. I do not have the equipment to do a diagnostic on the car so I am kind of shooting in the dark here. Is there somewhere I can at least get a list of the codes and what they mean? Any suggestions on what my issue might be? I am older and not able to work on things as much as I used to. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you.

^^^^Check the codes, either by the paper clip method or with an OBDI scan tool.

Sounds like O2 sensors to me, and only use either Motorcraft or Denso as a lot of other manufacturers are not great.

If someone else installed them for you, you probably got Brand X.

I had a set that turned the light off when the RPMs were over 2000, and turned it on when less than that, and they were new.

that is a symptom of clogged egr system too.

you need to check the codes as per one of the links above and let us know what they are or else we are just guessing.

Agree. Clean the "nostrils" and you should be good. Worth doing anyway if never done, known to clog up. Code may point you in this direction.

I dont know if you have Autozone's in Oregon but if you do they will check codes for free and even rent tools for free meaning you pay a deposit, use tool , return tool, and they give deposit back to you so its free... if you dont have diagnostic tools then that is always a resource that can be used.

Had a similar problem with an '07 Santa Fe. Codes did not help, nor did the DEALER after & 1100 Bought a used computer which the code sorta suggested and wha la FIXED. Altho code readers will direct, they do not fix unless you spend $ 2000 for one

You will only confuse them if you don't have an OBD2 port. Like at the DEQ when they couldn't find one, not suspecting that G2 is older than it looks.
