Does the mechanic have the actual part in hand or is he looking at the picture in the link? The picture in the link is not a right hand axle. The right hand axle should have a female end on the inside end (towards the engine).

I purchased and supplied the axle myself based off of what Advance Auto said would work. Mechanic said that it would not work and that he had to order and Axle that would. It's not that much more money but I'm just curious as to why it wouldn't work

Did the axle you received have two male ends on both sides like the picture?

The mechanic had to order the "right" one or the "correct" one? What side are you dealing with?

That axle looks like a drivers side axle so if you are dealing with the passenger (right) side then the mechanic is correct. It will not work. If you are dealing with the drivers (left) side, that still doesn't mean it's correct. It's very common to get the wrong axle for these cars. I had to replace the drivers side axle on my car this past October and I kept getting the wrong axle in the box. In the end I had to have O'Reillys order 5 different axles before they got the correct one. Part numbers were all the same, just didn't have the correct part in the box.

Echoing Irish Pride above, that is not an isolated experience and even extends to other parts.

It may also be true that you got the right part and, if it's a shop, won't warranty the part or accept a walk in part. I've seen that happen less than the wrong part scenario but sometimes still happens.

The mechanic was right. Per your link:

    Compressed Length: 678 mm
    Input Shaft Spline Quantity: 35
    Output Shaft Spline Quantity: 26

What it should be per the Autozone Duralast 8369N drivers side axles I use:

    Compressed Length: 622 mm (24.5")
    Input Shaft Spline Quantity: 26
    Output Shaft Spline Quantity: 26

I supplied 2 axles. One for for drivers side, and one for passenger side. Both bought from Advance auto, and both won't work. I haven't had time to go get the car from the shop as of yet but I have to return both of them. I have already had many parts that I have purchased that won't work with this car when the web pages say that they will. What the hell? Is it that different of a car? Are the companies missing something? I came across something that if it had something certain in the VIN that it is one part, and if it is different that is another. WTF?

I've come across parts that purport to work but don't many times. I always write a review alerting other SHO owners. I suggest doing the same for the Advanced Auto parts you got.

Everything I've ordered from ShoSource has been correct. Been trying to save a buck here and there and it seems to be failing. True Source has been a great source for product however I truly believe sometimes their shipping prices are out of hand.

They get SHO parts wrong in the computer system often. That's why I use Rock Auto less than I used to and go local. I also look for correct part numbers ahead of time. SHOsource ships from way out there WA so it can take some time and $. They come through alot for customers and I use them when I can so they won't scrap the whole thing like everyone else who used to vendor SHO specific parts has.

Just in case anyone ever needs a set of cv axles for the first gen sho mtx transmission I have a set of pristine rebuilt ones that originally came off my 1992 SHO mtx

    Yes.

When you take an engine and trans and shoehorn them into a car that they were never designed to go into, you end up with parts that are unique to that car.
