I did a quick search on the net for bore scopes that can do stills and video and connects to Android. Found a decent one off Amazon but wanted to get suggestions first. About to change all 8 coils and plugs for my 98 and wanted to see if recent cleaning of intake valves had any effect on cylinders. I suspect a bit of solvent got down into a few cans whose valves were open. I did have a vacuum hose going, but only for the few initial cleaning sessions. DOH!!

Also, would it behoove me to take the time to set up each cylinder at full volume (minimum stroke?) before getting images? I suppose I'd have to use a skinny measuring device down into each one just to get it close.

    Thanks!

Am not familiar with the current crop of low cost boroscope leads that one can hook to a smart phone or computer, but having done quite a bit of boroscope work at times, can say you want a lighted one, that flexibility is important (can you control it so that the tip can bend 90 degree from straight?), that smaller diameter helps, but balance the latter against available resolution.

I think most are color now.

Minimum stroke lets you check for cylinder wall scoring. Did you run an in tank or on car (through the injector rail) top end cleaner (different than just a PEA injector cleaner)? The later can be dangerous do it outside with an extinguisher handy.

Yep, the one I found had 5 star reviews across the board, several used for automotive-cylinder inspection, many saying it was much better than they expected. This one has I think 6 hi-K white leds, does stills and video, and has what they call a "semi-rigid" neck. I'll try to post it later tonight.

My first thought on getting the angle on the camera was to feed it down straight, then assuming I can see video stream in real time, push it down at an angle onto cylinder wall to get a good enough bend (perhaps by attaching something rigid to portion I want to keep straight) then lift it back up to inspect walls from top down (or bottom up).

As for my method of cleaning valves . . . nothing fancy as far as equipment. Used the Nimz method and got a short narrow wooden paintbrush with about a 1/2" wide brush and a few cans of "intake safe" cleaner. Even with LIM off, it took a while, at least 5 or 6 half-hour-long sessions, the first few of which I was running a shop vac with long clear hose down at bottom of each port. I know I shoulda been consistent with the vac - kinda pissed I wasn't tighter with that. I just hope there is a net benefit with having a bit of solvent down in the cans, maybe it was able to break up a bit more carbon.

I have two, one 720p and one 1080p. I don't see a brand name on the box, but I got them from Woot.com last year, sold under the Swisstek name ( https://www.woot.com/offers/swisstek-professional-hd-wi-fi-endoscope-5 ). They had them again earlier this year. They're supposed to support Windows, iOS, and Android, but I've only used them with Windows tablets. My brother and I used the 720p version to find a screw that fell into an inaccessible location; unfortunately, it was a stainless screw, so the magnet attachment couldn't grab it, and my flexible grabber couldn't quite get to it, so it's still there, but at least we know where it is...

I've got a similar one that uses Bluetooth instead of connecting a cable to the phone.
