    Hello,
I'm piecing together the OEM battery tray/hold-down mechanism for my 94 ATX and I believe I have an MTX hold-down rather than an ATX version.

My research seems to indicate that the MTX version has an offset hold-down fender mount tab and the ATX version has the same tab closer to the middle of the long side.

Does anyone have a side-by-side pic of both versions (or single pic of each) for comparison?

    Many thanks,
    Marc

    Please pardon my fumble-fingered typing...
    Title should read:

Ill post a pic of the MTX one in my 92 later today when I get outside. I might have an ATX bracket in my shed. I'll look when I get home.

The main difference is the MTX tab comes off at an angle because the battery sits at an angle. The ATX tab comes off perpendicular because the battery sits straight.

Well, I thought that I had an ATX bracket in my shed but everything I found matches whats on my 92. Now that I'm thinking about it, I'm unsure if the hold down bracket is different between ATX and MTX. I know that the battery trays are different because of the way they sit on the car. What might also be different is the mount on the fender wall that the bracket attaches to. The brackets might be the same but the fender mount might be different. I'll let you know for sure when I get to work tomorrow.

The ATX bolt tab is definitely right in the middle, and it is a "fork" instead of a bolt hole, so you can slide it off the loosened 13mm nut.

iirc, the atx allowed a larger battery to fit also due to the added drag of turning over the torque converter.

    All,
    Many thanks for the replies.
    ... great info. :)

My hold-down bracket looks like the one in the pic posted by Irish Pride, so it looks like I'm still on the hunt for an ATX hold-down bracket.

... and the correct size battery... LOL

Any pics of an ATX version bracket and/or other info still appreciated. Thanks again.

If that's what the ATX bracket looks like then I think I do have one. I saw one that looked like that but just figured someone cut it to make it easier to install. That's what I do to my battery trays. I'll look again tonight.

This is what I have. The battery tray holes were already cut so I just figured that the bracket was cut too. Can anybody confirm that this is an ATX battery bracket?

Based on how the bracket I have does NOT fit, the one in the pic just posted by Irish Pride looks like it will work... tab closer to the middle and longer.

This one needs a wire brush and some epoxy paint to really look good. Not rotten, just surface rust. If you think you can use it, PM me an address and I'll drop it in the mail this weekend.
