I am curious if anyone has or has attempted to put the fan from a ATX in an MTX, since the ATX has 2 fans instead of just 1 like the MTX

I would assume it'd be a bit of work since the overflow and power steering reservoirs are someplace else, and you'd have to do some rewiring to get the second fan to work

That helps a lot actually, thanks
though it seems if I do it, I should upload How I did it, since it seems it was only discussed how it might be done, rather than how it was done

Since the 2 speed fan has 2 different "on" temperatures, the pcm would need reprogrammed to provide that 2nd "on" point, or else one would need to control the fan independently of the pcm. Independent control would not be a bad idea since the ccrm has been problematic for 15 years already and that would allow it to be removed from the system. therangerstation.com has a good article on wiring in a Volvo 2 speed fan, including all the needed diagrams etc. The Volvo control relay setup is a lot better than the ccrm in the Ford vehicles, in my experience.

I looked at that, and the second ON seems to just be the second fan, the main fan appears to works the exact same as on the MTX (it even uses the same connector as the MTX fan). So what I might do is connect the big fan just like normal, then set the second fan to a manual switch I can flip while driving

No its actually both fans running when they are on, either at low speed or high speed.

still, the large fan and the MTX fan seem to be the exact same
So is there any reason I couldn't treat them the same, then have the smaller fan on a separate circuit?

Mechanics should be similar to the two row radiator conversions I would think - eliminates the MTX overflow bottle so you will need to run the ATX one, which in turn means an ATX battery tray and ATX power steering reservoir and bracket.

No need for the reservoir, just the bracket.
