I want to black out the sides of the headlights but it would stop somewhere before it would block any part of the headlight output. I'm thinking maybe match the same angle as is created on the inner part of the headlight? Anyone else try something like this? Looking for photos of what others have done.

Why people tint safety features of cars is beyond me.

    I couldn't resist that opportunity.
In all seriousness though, don't tint things that help you see where you're going or other people see your car. Lights are meant to be seen. Though I suppose if I had to choose I'd take tinted headlights over the damn ebay hids in non-projector headlight housings that everyone likes to put in their shitty trucks and rusted out cars.

I mean, I love mean/bad ass looking cars as much as the next guy but I'm not a big fan of tickets.

Depending on your state, any modification to tail lights or headlights is illegal and can carry a pretty penny in terms of the penalty.

Source: I had tinted tail lights on my old fusion and a state trooper saw on my way to work. He was actually pretty cool for a trooper and gave me a warning. Just know the risk you take with tinting/smoking taillights and headlights.

I agree with the blacking out safety features but with that said. I did a very, very, light smoke 5% on my 2014 SHO.

Remember Headlight tint is basically the opposite of window tint.

Clarification: For Window tint 5% means that 95 percent of the outside light is blocked....
Headlight tint is just the opposite in that only 5% of the headlight is tinted so 95% light is allowed through..

I am no scientist but I am guessing that headlight projects Outward and Window tint Light projects Inward.

With that clarification I used a 5% smoke tint and was just enough to sport out the front end (especially with the SHO black grille with Ingot Silver and the SEL Deep Blue Impact with the PI Grille.

The 5% was enough to sport out the front end but not be overly obvious. With three vehicles using the 5% smoke I did not even get one second look or questioned by the police....Even the small university harassment town I worked at.

If I ever did get asked my phrase was...."Rock Strike Prevention Film"

Sean Patrick,......Yes it does look pretty but remember the beam that is being reduced is not only you not seeing other vehicles but them not seeing you. A good lawyer would probably eat you up in court if they could prove the film was a factor and even if not is most likely illegal whether it was a factor in the accident or not. It does look good but more of a demo look not street.

Good point, window tint usually would have the same effect in an accident, as far as " not being able to see someone because of tinted windows". My tint does look pretty dark, but iv'e done small testing with it, doesn't seem to be too much of a problem as far as making the headlights dim enough to be of concern.

Window tint does not have any bearing on an accident unless you have them tinted darker than is legal. The problem with headlight and tail light tint is that the legal limit is no tint at all. Its just plain illegal no matter what.
Since insurance companies are always looking for ways not to pay they would absolutely use that as a reason.

True, at least in my experience, most people who tint windows go past legal anyways. I completely agree that any tint on the headlights or taillights when involved in an accident would probably result in the insurance going straight at you.

I tinted my cars paint black. The insurance company and lawyers said that because my car was black I was harder to see at night. I should have taken the advice of @AllWhiteSHO and used a lighter color.

Is this why white vehicles are more to insure in northern areas like Michigan, Minnesota, Alaska and Antartica?

I still like my bronze fire.

    It's "Antartica", not "Antarctica".

Antartica is a company in Brussels, Belgium, so I don't think it qualifies for it's own category... unless they deal in SHO related apps.
