I’m no LMS fan but I would hold off till the failure is found. Could be out of LMS hand and shit just happens when you start modding and wanting to make more power. Hell if a rod bolt broke loose and everything was assembled correctly are you going to go after ARP?

Being a built motor it is surprising that it kicked the bucket b4 the transmission which is completely stock. These transmissions must have some beefy internals the way they hold up to these extreme tunes.

I would be asking for the dyno results that show the date and time and exactly where in the horsepower curve it died.... You know, the evidence that would show it wasn't mechanics hotrodding the thing around town...

I’m really sorry to hear about your catastrophic engine failure. That’s a devastating blow all around. As George Costansa would say, you flew too close to the sun on pastrami wings. I don’t mean to make light of the situation but sometimes laughter is all you have left. Best of luck piecing her back together.

I am constantly getting things wrong in a given situation.

I would have thought that LMS would be absolutely rabid in getting your car to the show, to the point of swapping in another engine, or hiding the damage to the current engine and placing the car in position by hand. There are countless stories about promotional cars being displayed with no engine at all.

That was a missed opportunity to promote their product, and all it would have taken is a few spare batteries needed to power your light and sound system. Plus, of course, the transportation and manpower to position the car on stage.

    Too bad.

Very sorry to see this Mike. You've put a lot of blood, sweat, tears, time, and money into your car. You enjoy being able to share it with the world and to give up on that opportunity is heartbreaking.

Best of luck as you figure out your next steps.

Been an occasional participant to discussions here since 2015...got a 2015 SHO in 2015...currently have a 2018 - have been lurking since 2010...checking in every few days reading and learning from y'all and have received much appreciated advice and direction when needed over the past three plus years from this member friendly forum.

This being said I have followed admired and lusted after bpd1151's SHO since his acquisition of the eventual beast she has become. I am in a similar financial restraint thing as I have two young men I am getting through college so I totally understand. If I were in any position to assist financially I would - without hesitation - because of what this man has done for our beloved SHO platform. If LM does not make this right and do everything within their powers to get this iconic SHO into it's rightful spot in the Ford Nationals I propose we rally...prepare and all sign some sort of petition that asks that they make it a priority to do so..the car is a LM posterchild regardless of the Taurus going away...IMHO. Sorry I know without doubt that bpd1151 will most likely be ticked that I have proposed such but sorry this really struck my SHO love nerve...my name is SHOhobo...I bleed SHO blue...and I am a SHOoholic.

First and foremost, I am sorry to hear about this BPD. That is a tough pill to swallow. The being said.......

I will be that guy. Clearly LMS was having issues tuning something. If people have followed your build recently, using a reasonable amount of deductive reasoning...one modification sticks out in my mind. Now hearing the motor is hurt.....seems something went array. I will not continue my speculation out of respect for BPD.

I am not shocked that the car is not staying at LMS for a tear down on their own dime. If I was LMS I would be making this "right" regardless of lose. Their motor, mostly their parts or parts recommended by them, their tune, and a catastrophic failure on their dyno..... Even being an "elite" customer of theirs, I am not again shocked at the treatment you are receiving. I lost all respect for LMS after the whole V11 debacle, this is the frosting and sprinkles for my cake.

I would not let LMS tune my non existent lawnmower.

Mike, I'm with SM105K on this one (although I tweaked his quote) , you'll have to give us the back story when the smoke clears. You've been the poster child for LMS for years and the Ford Nationals is a fairly big deal. I'd have thought they would have done everything possible to get a new engine in the car so you could make the run. I also just finished paying my last daughters student loans off, it's shocking what an education costs, but being a good dad far outweighs the car. Toys come back in time. Best of luck with everything, this really is a mind blower.

In my mind LMS showed their true colors awhile ago.

Sorry to hear that Mike! You have always been setting the bar, and helping provide knowledge to others. I know with the work that I am doing to mine may end up in a blown engine as well, but you can't move beyond the bar without pushing the limits.

I was shooting to take the record this year for the 1/4, but it looks like someone else already took the pole position for the 4th gen Taurus, Ryan Spencer with 11.525.

I guess I will have to take it from him. Hehehehehe

Honestly hurts to see this happen. When i first found out about the SHO, it was bpd's car that really got me hooked. Also why I went the lms route. Really hope they dont hesitate making it right for you...

    Well....$hit.

Frankly, I'm surprised LMS isn't stepping to the plate. Seems your ambassadorship to them should be recognized and rewarded.

Looking forward to seeing how this plays out.

I don't think we know what LMS is going to do yet so let's not jump the gun. But if I were LMS I would definitely step up and kick in a major portion of the repair if not all. BPD spent a LOT of cash at LMS to get his car to where it was. The last thing they should want is bad press. This was their motor and their tune. And it broke on their dyno. GH is starting to get traction and this could open the gates if not handled appropriately.

Mike said the SHO was leaving LMS. Dont need to speculate on that.

Agreed. My personal experiences with them, they've been unprofessional and incompetent.

Mike, this is terrible to hear. I hope you stay with the platform, you're one of the best of us and you've helped me personally many times. Best of luck brother.

Ya know....I just had a thought ( I know, dangerous)...BUT, what if there punking him? The car is done and they're shipping it back to him all geared up and ready to rock, making him THINK their stuff puked.

Yeah...prolly not. It sounded better in my head, before I typed it out.
