I would say that our SHO is capable of running safely for may miles in 87. To get the best performance you need to run 93.

    From Ford's website:
    https://www.ford.com/cars/taurus/features/power/?intcmp=vhp-featcta-power

It states the rated power was recorded using 93. Will you be able to notice a difference? Helifiknow. The car will just retard timing and not give you everyhing you paid for.

Octane is the resistance to detonation. Higher the octane, the safer one is. But a properly working stock car should be fine on 87.

I made reference to this in the other thread.

Personally, I will always be running 91 or 93 (Shell or Mobile Top Tier) when stock. To me the extra $9/tank is worth the long term potential of reducing knock. Of course I only drive about 5,000-6,000 miles/year total (so it's only an annual fuel cost increase of $125). To me it seems worth the price.

I always run 93 since the day I got it. Try to stay with top tier the best I can as well which is usually BP due to convenience locally.

I run Top Tier 93 octane only. Doesn't add that mush to the cost of operation and I believe the car is stronger running 93 octane.

Got the 2018..will post a picture once i get the perfect shot...it had 311 miles on it at delivery...was driven from MN to WI on a dlr trade had 16 miles on it when she left MN..i know the retired gentleman that works for the dlrship and he is not a throttle junkie so i know he was not wompin' on it during his time with my new baby....she has 585 miles on her now had her for 36hrs now....i finally got into the throttle today on a roadtrip because i just had to....it has the 87oct dlrship complimentary full tank at delivery and i have a qtr tank of the crap left....point finally is... that i always run 93 octane in the summer and 91 in the winter...i can definitively say that there is a difference in power between 87 octane and 93 octane...worth every extra penny to me!

Saw 2 2016 SHOs as left overs. Dealer had the nerve to tell me they were only $9,000 off of MSRP.

    MSRP
    $46,925
    Dealer Discount
    $9,000
    Estimated Selling Price
    $37,925
    Net Price
    $37,925

I'm still on the hunt. Will likely buy a 2014-2016 used due to the desire to keep car payments low. Haven't had a car payment since 2004. But the depreciation hit these cars take is insane and too significant to not take advantage of.

Congratulations! You will love it. Mine had 182 miles when I took delivery. I am not sure how long I should drive conservatively? Keeping RPM under 3500 for now. Maybe for the first 1000 miles? Anyone have thoughts? My car is black, and a 17, what about yours?

Oh trust me, I am. There's a reason why they have 2 black 2016 SHOs still on the lot... But my sense is they likely won't get my business.

Saw a 2015 SHO locally with 20k on the clock. They were asking $28,000 and it has some nasty scratches on several panels. I was extremely disappointed to say in the least. May have to fly and buy out of state and suck up the taxes I'll have to pay in order to title/register it from out of state.

What part of the country are you in? I still see several new 17 on lots in the mid 30s. At some point they won't be able to sell the 16s as new. The reason they are still on the lot shows the dealer refuses to deal. Waiting 2 years and no sucker has waked in.

I'm in Arizona. Looking to buy up and down the west coast, Utah, Nevada, and possibly New Mexico as well. Colorado is a distant possibility as well. I just don't want to pick up a car that has seen salt.

Can you send me the links for the 17's in mid 30s please? I'd like to use that as a bargaining chip.

Bought my new 2016 at the end of November 2017 in WA. $0 down, just under $30,000.00 out the door.

Man... Seeing some of these prices makes me feel like I got a good deal. I picked my '16 PP w/ 10k miles last November up for $26,500.

That's a screaming deal. So is a leftover 0 mileage 2016 for $30k out the door. I'm seeing prices all over the place here and on the west coast area.

It is very possible. I got my 2015 with 450 miles on the ODO for 30k. The car is loaded. Every possible option except PP. It had never sold, just test driven and they had to sell as used because it was on the lot for over 12 months. That was in feb. 2017.

Still on the hunt for a SHO. Ideally looking for a 2015+ with less than 30k miles for less than $25k. Prices are all over the place. Seems I missed a few good deals.

The SHO locally is listed at $27,885 with shy of 18k miles. Has some nasty scratches though and the bottom driver side corner of the lip/skirt is broken. Test drove it and loved it. But the price for condition is ridiculous. I think I would lean towards the PP but my wife liked all of the driver assist stuff. I will admit, the assisted parallel park feature was pretty cool.

Pvster - I terminated my lease last week on a 2015 Ingot Silver low gloss optional wheeled drivers assist sunroof mayan insert leather seats 401a pkge SHO with just a shade under 30K miles - immaculate condition..minor curb rash on two wheels....damn unreasonably narrow drive thru ATMS..I know ur concerned about salt as I do live in WI but i did underbody washes at touchless car washes - it is called the "salt buster" wash - at every opportunity i had during the winter months...i changed oil with high quality full synthetic oil about every 8,500 miles and rotated her slippers at every oil change..burned 93oct in summer and 91oct in winter...will say the Michelin Primacy tires suck because they are pretty much spent..but i am sure the dealership that bought it out from Ford Credit will put some new high heels on her. To ease ur fears on salt..i have a 2006 Ford Explorer that i have owned since new that now has 65K miles that I did the same underbody washes with religiously and not a spot of rust on her. I gave my folder of records for this SHO to the dealership including all oil change/tire rotation receipts, original window sticker, recall letter (had the fuel pump relay overheating recall), and receipt for the fix, and also the actual dealer invoice (i buy via xplan so they have to give u a copy of the invoice). The dealership I termed my lease at were so impressed with the condition of her that they bought it out from Ford Credit to resell. Not sure what they will be asking for it as it hasnt been prepped for sale yet but if ur interested lemme know and I can get you in touch with my main man there. Its an honest very well cared for SHO.
