I replaced my engine mount less than a year ago and my engine about came out of the hood today. Ok maybe I'm exaggerating a little but this thing doesn't seem to have a interlock. What a pos! Any recommendations to where I can get one that will hold? I dont drive hard....dont generally take off fast...occasionally my put the petal down when I'm already moving.

What mount did you use? Maybe just defective.

    I've used:
    Westar EM-2934 (Amazon)
    SKP SKM2934 (RockAuto)

So far so good. I prefer the SKP, as the Westar moves a bit more and is slower to return. My goal is to make solid mount out of my previous skeleton OEM mount.

Thank you for the quick reply. I cant remember the brand.
I think I got it from AM or Al parts. Something like that I will see if I can find it in my emails. The top mounting holes were to narrow and I had to elongate them to make them fit.
I found a oem one that looks the same but it says it's for a 3.0 sable?

I see rockauto list a solid mount. They have 2 left.

Not sure of the duratec mounts, but the vulcan I would not think is the same. Likely different distances.

Solid mount sounds good. Looks like that would be the one to go for if they still have them in stock. Seems like that part is running out on many sites.

Oreilley lists one for $30. Limited lifetime warranty. Going to check it out tomorrow. Hopefully I can get one tomorrow. I'm really tempted to just make a solid mount. Rockauto had 2 but no picture.

Limited lifetime is better. The mount you take out can be made into a solid if you are so inclined to do it yourself.

Don't forget that with a solid mount, you will feel more vibrations coming from engine (at idle mostly). I replaced one on my Sable (3.8L) and the difference was clearly perceptible.

I ordered one from O'Reilly. If it breaks it's under warranty as long as they're still available and easy to exchange.
I pulled it out just now. Seems the nut came loose (no locktite) causing premature failure.

Agree, anything more solid will transfer vibrations through the system more. Its not bad, but can cause unsatisfying if you just want a date night.
The converse is you get more feedback to the road, and to possible issues.
That's why I have one SHO as much a stock ride as possible for the daily ride, and one like its on rails stiff for the sporty days. Which still occur more times than not...

I like your plan ! :D You're a better GEN 3 SHO FAN than me...
Now, where can I find a second one...

Thanks for the photo Pablo. I have some noise (clunk) from engine bay and wondering if one isn't going away...

The only real fix for this issue is finding an NOS part. The front mount is F7DZ-6038-BA.
I’ve found most all the aftermarket mounts are crap. Many are 3.0 mounts listed to fit 3.4. Some fit, some not so much.

I try my best to only use genuine Ford parts in my SHO and am always buying parts as I find them.

Now if anyone knows where some rear SARC struts may be laying around.......

Well the new one looks like crap. It's in a anchor box but the parts person said it's not...they just come in those boxes. A ford one would be nice but that ain't happening today.

Well crap again! I think I cross threaded one of the bolts. That's going to be fun to fix. Only goes in a turn or two. Off to town to buy a tap.

Reading your post and searching for this part, I just recall that someone had made renforced motor mount Gen 1 and 2 SHO. IIRC, it was someone in the team of SHO Source (or near of).

I rode this long time ago, not sure if it's still doable or reliable for long term...

I found it. Sadly it's for the rear one. Maybe we can repair front ones too ? They do a renforced version of the front manual 3.0L SHO.

I got the new one in. I didn't screw up the threads that bad. I was able to get it started straight after removing the mount.
I then reamed the holes in the mounted and was able to get the bolts in.

I agree, stock parts usually are the best.

I wrapped a piece of chain around the front exhaust manifold then bolted it to the subframe with just a bit of slack. Never changed any motor mounts in over 150k miles of hard driving.

And I have not done a thing to them with over 200k and they still work just fine. Lots of variance, I guess.
