Hello.. Does anyone know how to take the motor for the moonroof off? I can take the light and switch assembly off just fine to get to the motor, but for the life of me I do not see how to detach the motor from where it fits into the assemby for the moonroof..? Does anyone know also how to go about testing the motor to make sure its bad? and one more question I read on here that there is a relay that works the motor does anyone know where it might be located as well? Thank you

most often it is the switch, not the motor, that is bad.

the motor is mounted to a stamped metal bracket that is held on with 3 or 4 screws, iirc.

Thank you .. DO you by chance no how to go about testing the motor using wires for hot and ground to see if motor will turn? and so you have to take the metal bracket off as a solid piece to get the motor off I couldnt figure out how to get it to come apart from the I guess you call it crank behind the metal bracket that causes the moonroof to open when it turns.?

the motor is held in by three star bolts. I think they are T-20 but not positive..F.W.I.W. I agree it is almost 100% of the time a faulty switch, not motor.

    good luck!

So how do you get the panel with the switch off? My switch craped out and need to fix. Are there any screws or just snap in place?

There are screws and clips both. You take out the covers for the map lights, and then you will have access to 2 screws. After they are removed, then you need to un-snap the clips. fwiw, attempting to un-snap the clips generally results in breaking the cover where the clips mount, as it was not a robust design. So anticipate having to fix the cover too...
