Fords Unlimited 34th Annual All Fords Car Show - Presented By: Fords Unlimited Car Club of St Louis

In the interest of supporting other Ford Car Clubs, here is the announcement for an event in St. Louis this weekend. They haven’t had SHOs in the past, so any would fall under the Car Show Class “S”, which is all 1971-2021 Fords that don’t fit into the other classes. But, if some do show up, a...

Virbations when braking from high speeds.

On Ford (and similar) products, you will tend to have stuck sliders pins way before the rubber hoses start failing. And the key rubber hose failure is at the clamp to the frame, near the caliper. That's been after 10+ years, from the ones I've seen.

Opened my sunroof for the first time in a couple of months.

Well, I wouldn't buy an MB, and they don't make the C-Max any more. Not that I would buy one. A Ford buddy of mine leased two in a row, as the 2-year lease prices were stupid cheap, but it was just his commuter mule.

Opened my sunroof for the first time in a couple of months.

I am mixed on moonroofs. When I had them, I rarely ever opened them. I just like them for the light that brightens up the interior. The option I wish that mfrs would offer, but only a handful of us would buy, would be a fixed glass roof, with a manual sliding sunshade. Relatively simple, and...

    11 Days until the Convention!

Just a couple of Reminders: I will be turning in the headcount for the Banquet this Tuesday 8/24, so if you haven't signed up yet, do it now! There are Dyno spots available! C'mon out and see what numbers your car puts down! All of the Membership information, as well as the Convention...

    2016 SHO with PP-spare tire

The suggestion to get the newer spare that fits is good, or get a thick wheel spacer to use with your current spare, that will clear the caliper. FWIW, I got a Modern Spare kit for my previous (non-Ford) car, that fit in the tire well. My current car is the same model, but with bigger 6-piston...

Virbations when braking from high speeds.

Well, in 26 years of HPDE track days, I have never "warped" a rotor. And, as I've been advising for at least 20 years, buy the cheapest blank rotor you can find. The Rock Auto Closeout $10 SHO rotors, as well as the $7 rotors for my SVTF did just fine. With a steady diet of PF, Hawk, Porterfield...

Virbations when braking from high speeds.

The rotors themselves do not warp. Period. How many article links do you want to see from brake experts on that. This myth has, across every car group I'm in, caused people to attach some mythical power to brake rotors, and they way overspend on the drilled/grooved/slotted/sprinkled with pixie...

Options and opinions on brake system upgrade

Just better pads. Guys have even used the PP pads successfully on the the track. There are far better pads out there.

Virbations when braking from high speeds.

Rotors don't warp. Ever. It's a brake pad issue, most of the time. It could be a CV, but that would be also on acceleration.

    Quaife Differentials Gen 1&2

I have opinions on their utility in driving situations. BUT.... for any SHO I own long term, they are the best for reliability. Even if you don't do a dragstrip or road course.

The 29th National SHO Convention Is Rapidly Approaching!

Yeah, just getting the Checklist together, to make sure that I don't forget anything. Just seems like there's more details to deal with than we had last year! And also trying to figure out how to fit everything in the car!

Should we have a section called "Generation 4.5" for the 2013+ SHOs?

It's never mattered what Ford called it. To them, all of 86-95 is their Gen 1. We split it because of the minor differences, but the Forum and Facebook groups leave them together. Differences between the Gen 4 & 5 EcoBoosts are exactly like the Gen 1& 2 minor differences. Not worth splitting...
