I'm photobucket.t at work. I'm thinking of the $530 one that does everything. The reason why Josh's costs what it does is because having done the research, he knows it all works, and having seen it in person, I can tell you it's extremely high quality.

Actually, no, yours is a copy of one of our early models. We found that the assembly of the Aeromotive return fitting / -8 to -6 swivel / stock -8 port adaptor was prone to leak if not assembled perfectly, (which is difficult because there's no way to hold the female conical part of the -6 to -8 and keep it from spinning) which is why we went ahead and had a 1-piece stainless -8 to return fitting adaptor made up, as you can see in the later pics (including the one in this thread).

You've also chosen to use cheaper, non-swivel 90 degree elbows, which means your fitting alignment needs to be perfect during assembly, or the fittings won't line up without twisting the hose. In addition, your parts lists contain unneccessary parts, are missing parts, and also include parts that we have found to be failure prone (besides the -8 to -6 fitting).

To top it off, when I punch your list into Summit's site (and correct your mistakes), I get $237.33, which is more than our kit costs AND some of the parts are out of stock until the end of the month. I'm sure you will figure out your errors in the end. Good luck with that. :)

My advice - before you order the individual parts, buy the complete assembled kit from us, as it will save you time and money. :)

What I find neat is at the end of the day, you will have ended up buying a bunch of unassembled parts for more than the price as our assembled kit. So that proves our price is pretty fair, especially since cutting and assembling braided stainless line is not trivial. :)

Edit ... I must say that I generally avoid getting drawn into these types of threads, but I'd hate to see your car catch fire from a fuel leak, so I just had to say something ;)

Your friend is an *******. There, I said it for you Josh. :salute:

Keep Xeroxing this stuff. That way there will be no one left to support these cars.

The SHONUT kit is top notch and includes everything you need-> hard parts assembled so you can bolt it right in without mixing and matching parts. I have used his kit in the past and am getting ready to order another one.

i was thinking about piecing together my own fpr and then i did the digging around for all the parts and i couldnt find a few and what i did find was a price of more than the assembled fpr from josh. so i can say i will be buying one from josh. have bought some things from him in the past and will continue to do so shonut sells top notch stuff with the research and trial and error testing behind his products.

I think part of the problem (especially with the hi-flow kit) is that people don't realize how bloody expensive the braided line fittings are, and when you start to add them up, the cost just goes nuts. If you look at the regulator kit, you think there's a $100 regulator and $30 in fittings. Well, that just isn't the case. :)

I've often thought of offering a poor man's hi-flow kit that uses regular fuel line instead of using braided lines and fittings, but the thought of someone cutting a fuel line and losing a car to a fire just doesn't sit well with me. Maybe I will relent, who knows.

Im poor you should make that one. i promise i wont cut the line accidentally. lol... i just bought nitrious and have a 190 lph pump and cant afford your fpr... :fit: (not to say its pricy just sayin) i have to settle with reseting the computer every 2 weeks or so and need to find out a way to wire that resistor from the 89 and 90's into my 89 that has the 91 harness'. someday i will but it... someday:wave:

The resistor trick barely works in the 255 and won't work in the 255 HP. I didn't try a 190 though. I once wrote a long thread about that, but I think it's gone now. The conclusion was that you need our FPR with a 255 or 255 HP pump.

The 91 harness should have a jumper where the resistor is in the early cars. Try just plugging an 89-90 resistor into the harness instead of the jumper and see if that works for you. Remember that the high/low voltage switch in the EEC is based on TPS and TPS alone. Once you are past a certain throttle position, you are at full voltage, period. That may or may not work with how you drive. It's better to trigger based on vacuum level.

Oh ... if you have a TwEECer AND are one of our clients, you can turn off long term WOT leaning/richening with our SHONUT-client-only calibration updates. Not that this is a fix or anything for not using our FPR ;)
