How do I get this thing back together enough to thread the bolt in? I have hammered on it with and without strut in place but just can't get it close enough. No, I don't have a torch.

I might have used a vise grips. I don't recall it being that difficult. The pinch bolt should have a point on it(just so you can be sure you have the right one).

I'll go try that, and it is the pointed bolt. it almost threads but just not quite. Well, it tries to catch the first thread but hops off....

With the exception of rust build-up inside the threads, the bolt should readily/easily begin threading back into the spindle. *The* only reasons other than rust for the bolt not aligning, is if the two-halves were spread too far apart, the spindle is bad/damaged, or the pinch-bolt is bent (which shouldn't be reused in the first place).

If you have access to a tap-and-die set, run a tap backward through the threaded portion of the spindle. If the bolt won't then start, I would suggest getting another spindle.

Putting it all back together I realize that I'm missing one of the rear tension strut arm bushings. Can I buy just one of those?
