I 'am running Dynomax Mufflers with the resonator delete the MTX. What next AFFORDABLE mod would you do?

Some options I have been pondering
-73 or 80 mm Maf sensor (What ALL will be needed to be able to do this?)
-Port and polished intake and butterflies ( Again! What else has to be done in order for the car to accept it?)
-CAI
-Chip (What do you recomend?)

I can only afford to do one thing at a time. And I don't see how these things could be that expensive.

Feed back is much appreciated!!:thumb:

First, make sure your maintenance is up to date and your brakes are good and your suspension is solid. All the mods in the world won't fix a poorly running car, and trying to make a car faster when it can't stop well and/or rides like shit is a waste of time, money and effort.

Next, take the first three items from your list and forget about them for a while.

As mentioned, a y-pipe is going to be the best dollar for HP money you can spend on an MTX.

After that, get a CUSTOM tuned chip, either from an SCT dealer or buy a TwEECer.

Once you have a tuning solution, then you can start screwing around with MAF's. I've never seen proof that porting and polishing a V6 SHO intake does anything. Your intake is already CAI, just about anything you do to it that doesn't involve mechanically compressing air is more likely to impede airflow than improve it.

Good advise.....Except...

I personally have gasket matched heads, gasket matched surge tanks, ported primary and secondary snakes and other imperfections removed. I definately noticed a difference (Even without BBB's yet). The torque seemed more readily available and seemed to move even further down in the power range for even more consistant torque. The only thing I did not do myself was the ported snakes. I only spent money on a carbide tip ($8 at carlisle). I say do it.

Also, just get a K&N panel filter and remove the snorkel. :thumb:

Got before and after dyno data to prove it made a difference?

"Noticing" or "feeling" a difference doesn't mean there is one. People make mods with this preconceived notion that they'll get some kind of improvement which then becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy; at least in their own heads, even if the facts prove otherwise.

I can't tell you how many people we've had come in with some kind of goofy unknown chip that they SWEAR makes the car run like a ***** ape, yet when you strap the car to the dyno it's making 10hp or more LESS than without the chip. Same thing with those stupid C&L MAF sensor housings, people insist that it makes their car faster, but every time the empirical data proves otherwise.

Unless you have concrete, empirical proof that a port & polish job on a V6 SHO intake makes one bit of difference, I stand by my statement that I have never seen proof that it makes a difference and remains a waste of time and effort. In almost 20 years around these cars, except for the typical inflated SHO Shop claims, I've to this day yet to see one bit of proof.

Go with the Maintenance as recommended then get a hi-flo Y pipe.

Stay away from the larger MAF's as they will require a tweecer or other way of tuning the MAF for the proper voltage. This can be done if you can find someone to program a chip for you based on your mods.

It depends on where you like your torque. Going catless has shown a loss down low but a benefit on the top end.

I would get a high flow y-pipe. If you go catless you will loose some low end and it will probly be raspy as **** to. Ive got an atx so my pipe itself isnt as restrictive so im going to just cut out my cats and weld in some magnaflows. After that my mods are going to be as follows.

BBBs
Porting of intake stage 3 shosource.
CAI-not really a perf mod on the SHO but worth the ear candy.
ATX underdrive pullies.
Possibly the Zex Dry kit if I decide I want to buy a new tranny every year.
