Is there 2 styles of block or 3 ? Most searching points to this.....

89-92 MTX
93-95 MTX ATX ( claimed as just different bore, same casting)

I have two block, both 1994. One ATX and one MTX. Both have the later sytle face but the 3.0 block is very different on the side from the same year 3.2, less webbing. A quick measuremnt between the bore and jacket show this 3.0 has thicker walls then the 3.2 , like a 3.0 bored over.

If so this would mean there are 3 block castings

89-92 MTX
93-92 ATX ( heavy external webs)
93-95 MTX ( thicker walls but less webs)

OR>>>
1990 block on top, 1995 on bottom.
Edit20100 0863

my 94 ATX block new face, BIG webs webs.

My 1994 MTX block, new face SMALL webs

100 0960

yup 3 blocks, my 93 mtx block looked like your 3.0L and my 93 and 94 atx and a 95 atx block I had had that extra webbing of your atx block. I think the consensus is that the 3.2L atx blocks were the strongest, but I think thats really going based on looks. Not that it matters though, because I know of no one who has cracked a sho block while not being a complete idiot.

i was under the impression that there were 3.

original 89-92 3.0L
93-95 3.0L larger walls w/ untapped holes for 3.2 stuff
93-95 3.2L larger bore holes tapped for 3.2 stuff

its like they really only used two castings, the 3.0 & 3.2 from 93-95 were the same minus bore size and which holes were present.

My 3.0L from 93 looked different then my 93,94 and 95 3.2's from atx's

It's been discovered that the webbing on the 3.2 blocks is different than the 93-95 3.0 blocks.

It may be old news but it lost news ( do a search)

I just measured the wall thickness on my 1994 3.0 and 1994 3.2, both come in around .210" average cylinder wall thickness .

With a .119 bore differance between the two (and the above wall thickness) I would be ending up with a .150 wall, on the 3.0 bored to 3.2 specs ....sound right?
