Got this car about a week ago with 106k miles on it. Most places state that the 0-60 should be around 5-6 seconds. I’ve really carefully analyzed the few videos i’ve taken of 0-60 runs and the best i’ve got is 8 seconds. No tire chirping from a dig, and literally takes 2 seconds to get from 50-60 sometimes. There was a previous code on the car for a boost leak but it’s not active anymore. Anyone got an idea what this could be? I don’t have the most mechanical knowledge so I can’t really diagnose it myself. Taking it to a trusted mechanic next week but it would be nice to understand what could possibly be happening!

Take the engine cover off, a little behind the front furthest right spark plug is a little black box that will have 3 different small vacuum lines coming off it. One of those goes directly to the right and hooks onto the charge pipe. It is extremely common for those to get blown off because ford thought they did not need a clamp. Having that blow off will cause you to have no boost.

If you can't figure it out just post a picture of your engine bay in that area on here and someone can tell if that hose has blown off.

ImageLooks like all the lines are attached but the far left one has a piece of some sort of tape wrapped around it that was peeling off. i took it off fully and couldn’t see any holes on the top side at least. Think there could be a small leak around there?

Know of any other possibilities or is that the only real obvious one?
Check the charge pipes for leaks and check the pipe between intercooler and throttle body for leaks. Usually if they are leaking bad there will be a lot of oil in the area.

If you have a tuner like sct. You can read it through the obd2

Any odd noises?
Any black/gray smoke coming out of the exhaust when you jump on it?
That was my first hint that I had issues with my motor. I'm guessing/hoping that's not your case but I was shocked that my car ran so well after finding out I was missing a piece of piston off cylinder #1.
Other than that it definitely sounds boost related because your first couple gears are most likely getting good power from the motor itself and then up higher you're relying on the turbos to help out.

Any old school folks know if doing the ether trick would work with these cars where you spray some ether and see if idle increases to identify a leak?

Nope, no dark smoke or any signs of engine trouble, everything seems to be running well, just not much power in higher gears. Planning on getting the epp hotpipes soon so hopefully those will patch this hypothetical leak, if not i’ll just have to take it to a shop.

if you have a tuner (or plan to tune it) and a laptop you can download livelink and I can send you a config file to save you time. then you can run a log on it to see if your hitting commanded boost.

What about a boost gauge? I've seen people that have replaced the center dash speaker with gauges. I'd be interested in doing something like that tbh

EPP sells a pod that allows you to retain the speaker and add 2 or 3 gauges. Fair warning, it is not a cheap (price) pod.
