Hi all,
I have a tune on the car and just had the dealer reset the KAM and adaptations after doing the plugs. Does this reset it back to stock and do I have to re-install the tune?
Thanks.

Check to see if the strategy has changed. If not, good to go. If yes, then check with your tuner about needing an updated tune to load.

I don't think I can see this on the LMS unit. It seems to feel the same as before but I'll check with LMS. Thanks for the quick response .

I wold assume you can, even the older unit could. At worst, an obd adapter + forscan lite and you can see it. Maybe Torque Pro as well, but its been a while ...

It should be on the my cal device just don’t go into tune mode it should show u. Did u leave it tuned when u went to the dealer ? If not try and load a tune if it doesn’t work they probably changed the strategy code.and if u left your 3bar in and they changed the code it would not be running right at all.

Yes I left it tuned . I have the the latest device so I'll check it tonight . They seem ok with it there . Of course that will change if I lose the bottom end.

Clearing keep alive memory and transmission adaptive strategy will not default the tune. This is just what the pcm has learned over time due to normal wear and differences of parts. If the pcm was reporgramed you would be setting codes for your 3 bar map if you had one installed. If the dealership tried to update the pcm they would likely had to do so with the tear tag.

Right I forgot about that. There is a 3 bar in it and the car isn't all wacky. I notice the shifts are now slightly different so it must be just that .

Thanks everyone .

As a follow up, should the tune be reloaded after the KAM to start fresh? Kind of like a fresh instal of a computer operating system or is that an inappropriate analogy .

no need. if the tune is still there, it will relearn as you drive.

this was more like clearing the cache off your browser, or maybe resetting the TCP/IP stack. Nothing that requires "rebooting".

Going forward, you really should return the car to stock including, of course, the stock map sensor. If they had done a reflash that changed your strategy code, it could have been problematic since the tune is specific to your car's strategy code.

Does that mean that if I reverted it to stock now that the car might not run correctly?

The dealer seems fine with the tune and I was trying to avoid swapping parts when taking it in e.g. sensor which is easy but I'm thinking of a pump which would be more time consuming.

If the car runs fine with the tune, there is apparently no issue. I would check the strategy code just to make sure it hasn't changed. Your tune was created for the strategy code in the car at the time you first got the tune from Livernois.

I am not familiar with the new device. Does it save your stock tune when you flash the car or does Livernois just provide the stock tune for your strategy code and save it on their server for you to download onto the device?

You don't have to change the pump when returning the car to stock, do you? SBS?

You have to download the stock code from the car not from Livernois when you first get the device . I don't think the dealer changed any code when they put the plugs in - they just said they cleared the KAM and adaptations . I didn't have the presence of mind to ask enough questions when the mechanic told me what he did .

Yes you have to change the pump per Livernois if reverting to stock .

AFAIK, Livernois has always been able to provide a stock file for their customers as and when needed. A nice perk.

Is it specific to the vehicle that was uploaded to there server or the stock file from Ford?

I am not sure how they do it with the SHO. When I got a tune for my 2016 Mustang, I provided them the strategy code and they either had or obtained the stock tune from Ford. I simply loaded it and the tune file onto my MyCal device.

Hmm. Now I'm wondering if my memory of what initially happened occurred . Pretty certain I loaded it from my car to the device .
