The oil light comes on while the '91 is idling......oil pressure gauge reads a consistent 12lbs at idle .......what says the hive mind, Should I be worried?

Not sure what the pressure is supposed to be at idle. If 12psi is right then I would try replacing the oil sender to see if you still get the light. How old are the rod bearings?

oil pressure sender should close the switch at 5-6 psi, iirc, so if it really has 12 then the sender is suspect.

Accoding to Ford engine book , idle the oil psi should be no less then 12.8 , and at 2500rpm its no less then 28.4

Sorry to bump this, this is weird. I drove it around for a bit to bring the engine up to temp/get a last drive without the ground controls, and the oil light never flickered.....pressure gauge still reads the same as it always has.....lol.

I'll replace the sensor anyways, but I figured you guys would like a laugh.
