Well, since sam has drug me kicking and screaming back into the SHO world, i'd like to get some stuff happening. I will be back this season in a SHO for the first time in several years in the CP class.

I was wondering if we could get a thread of who out there is autocrossing there sho, and how well they are doing, maybe share setup tips, advise, accomplishments. So chime in if you are an autoX SHO owner..

well, i plan on doing some HPDEs this year also, looking to eventually get up to the time trials class with Nasa. but it's cheaper to autocross, so that's what the majority of my competing will be.

I have been Autoxing some the past few years. If I attend regularly I tend to place fairly well....if I only go sparatically then it's like I forget how to drive.

I signed up for a HPDE this year too.

The car is set up with Koni/Intrax, SFC, ASFB, RSTB, 20/26 Swaybars, WaveTrac and '96 Brakes.

thanks everyone for chiming in. i have an event in Danville, VA this coming month so i'll post results and stuff then. I'm deff. looking forward to the hpde stuff as my car is more setup for Road racing than autocross.

what class is everyone in. as stated i'm in C prepared, but also autocrossed my v8 in ESP a couple times and feel that a SHO could be competitive in this class also.

I think with enough tire Ashley's SHO would be very competitive in ESP. That goes for any full weight SHO with decent suspension and enough tire. If the blowers were allowed in ESP, That's where the 95 would end up.

I run in SM. The ASFB put me there. I didnt build the car for a class, I just built it how I wanted and SM is where it ended up. Where I am at there are 3 SCCA regions that all run within 1.5 hours of me, and 2 of them have a street tire SM class. The other region I am stuck running agianst the guys with slicks....usually end up about 2 seconds behind the competant drivers and about 3.5 sec behind the good guys on a 60 sec course. Dang STI Impreza's running 245 slicks!

What class would my 89 track car fall in with its current mods - 3.0 with cams/head work/headers/bolt ons, coiloverss and all the susp stuff, gutted/caged, with hoosiers and non stock wheels? What if I used star specs on stock wheels, any change in class?

It's been over 10 years since I did an Auto-X, but I would like to do another.

Change to Gen III subframe bushings and you can make it down to ESP. Ashley's car runs ALSFB but we run the car in ESP. The ALSFB's over say a Gen III bushings is not really a gain. Not to mention...I run with a Local club who has produced so many reigonal and national champions its not even funny...so they are pretty relaxed about classing rules as it is only a local event, unless the car is obviously "misclassed". The idea of the local events is to have fun, not run it like a Nationals event.

I've thought about doing that. I'd have to check my other mods to make sure they are okay for ESP.

Trying to tailor the car for a class is something I my do in the future, but right now I'm not to worried about how I place. I just go out to have fun and improve my skill. Right now the car is much faster than the driver.

You can have a fully bolt on SHO and still be considered legal for ESP. ALSFB's are the only stupid thing that kicks the car out. Well, boost too.

Man, and I am out of town all weekend.

As far as SM or SMF. I qualify for SMF, but dont usually run in the class. There are usually less enteries in it, and there is one guy in an Integra that just destroys everyone. I did have to laugh cause he was unloading spare axles...guess he breaks thing fairly often. Reminded me of the vid I watched of Brian/Area91 snapping an axle launching at the drag strip.
