Yes I'm listening! Arrgh! Why did you bring this up? When I first got the SHO I was seriously considering having the wheels done in black chrome but then I thought that it would be too black and like bpd1151, I really do like the stock wheels as they are. Well now with my other changes including the mobsteel grill, and now this suggestion, I'm once again considering doing this to my wheels. :nut:

Can anyone with photoshop do a black chrome to my wheels in this picture? I think that I need to visualize it first. I've lost all of my photo editing software during the recent move. :frown:
I've seen other black SHO's and regular taurus' with black wheels but never the stock 20's in black. I would be most grateful to anyone with a good photo editing program who can show me what it would look like? :hail:

Not a SHO, but you can see the difference...Black Chrome vs Chrome (in PVD or Permachrome finishes)

I really like the look, just wondering how expensive is it to have the wheels perachromed. Also I think the black chrome look would look great on a black or white car...Zeus and bpd are you listening?

I can see why you like the permachromed look Mark.
Very sharp.

Hey Ray,

Thanks for those pictures! I remember when you got yours done last year and I thought that it looked fantastic. At the time I thought that I would like to get mine done in the black but then as my mods progressed I kind of forgot about it. Now I'm really starting to ponder it again. I'm wondering if there is anyone in my area or Western Canada that can duplicate this process though? I really don't want to be shipping wheels back and forth with all the extra border and tax charges involved with that......

Andrew, maybe we should plan a trip to Permachrome, and got both cars done together. We could make a small gathering trip for the trip. Just a thought, but I'd love to get my car done too, that is if the hood turns out OK.

I'd like in on that trip Mark. Where is that place?

I think it's somewhere around Detroit. I'm sure Rick from Livernois could help with directions, but I have to wait until after my stone damage is repaired so it will be at least August. But that would be great if we could all meet, maybe stay at the same motel/hotel and maybe check out LMS while we are all in the area.

No problem! If you ever want to make the trip just come swap them out and drive it home!! Although I know that's one heck of a drive for you. One of my best friends lives just across the border near Windsor, he often reminds me of how far Alberta is from Windsor, ON

The place is US Wheel Exchange in Madison Heights, MI (suburb of Detroit) The process isn't done here, but they have some exclusivity to the process. They usually have some in stock, but you'll want to check and reserve them before making the trip. If you decide to do it....let me know....I'll do what I can to help. The guy I dealt with was the president, Marcus.....but the last time I called over there, the person that answered said he wasn't with them anymore. I found it odd, but if you are serious, I'll look into it for you. I bought another set for a Lexus RX400h. They also look great and those weathered the winter without issue. They offer a 5 year 100,000 mile warranty against pitting, peeling.

Great idea Mark. Sounds like we need to talk to them first to make sure they've got enough wheels on hand.

Would also like to see Rick's outfit too.

Thanks for the offer, TRBOSHO, Madison Heights is just above Detroit (proper) maybe about 4 hrs. west of me.

Thanks again for the offer, I am serious, although I won't be able to do it before August or maybe September at the earliest. But when we are ready, we sure will appreciate any help we can get. Thanks again.

Unfortunately, Detroit is almost a 2 day drive for me so I'm not sure if I could make it anytime soon :frown:

I emailed The US Wheel Exchange on Friday but still haven't heard back from them. With the huge cost of shipping, I'm not sure that this would work for me. I hate being far away from everything :shakehead:

That place is 15 minutes from me. I just emailed them for a price on the black chrome wheels.

Here is the email I got back.

The black chrome would be a special order on that wheel. I could have it ready for you in about 4 weeks from the time the order is placed. The price would be $895 plus tax. This would include the cost of install. To place an order on this set I would need a deposit of $250 to get these done in black.

$895 which includes install. Not too bad, but a little more than I was hoping for. I just sent another email asking the price of the standard permachrome with install.

That's a fair price. I wish they answered my email..... I guess that means no for shipping to Canada :frown:

I would suspect pricing would be the same....(I did a little better on mine because of some long delays they had) just that you probably wouldn't need the deposit because the standard wouldn't be a special order
