mine too

My 2010 also has the flaking chrome problem on all of the tail light sections. I stopped by the local dealer yesterday and they are ordering replacements with no questions asked. Supposed to take a week to get them in.

Had my two inner lights replaced. The outer lights were replace a few months ago. No questions asked, known issue. The lights took three days to come in.
Dealer says 36k mile warranty on this issue....

Called my selling dealer (70 miles from me) asked if I could take photos of the peeling and e-mail them to him. They explained (nicely) that the pictures had to be taken by a Ford dealer and that the vehicle VIN had to be embedded in the photos as part of the Ford Digital Photo Program. So I have to make to 150 mile trips for photos and then replacement. However, the local Ford dealer has offered to do the work and submit the photos and claim, although I didn't purchase the car from them!

Yep that's what Ford probably is using to not replace mine but I did 36k in less than a year and why would they allow any of their new Taurus vehicles to be going up and down the road with the chrome falling off. They know they have a problem and they should take care of it. It won't be pretty if they don't. Edsel comes to my work place and he mentions for everyone to buy a Ford, I'll ask him if he can sell me one that the chrome don't fall off.

Mine started peeling, and I think the one (pass. side) will be replaced next week. I wish they didn't have to junk the whole light...such a waste.
What do you mean by junk the whole light? Does that mean that if I am planning to have tail lights tinted, I should have flaking problem fixed first?
Thx

I pointed out one flaking taillight section and my dealer replaced both sides, no questions asked.

Looked over mine, it looks like only the right side is peeling. Car is at the dealer right now for photos submission of claim for new taillights. Will update as I hear more. BTW, I've noticed my front emblem is pitted too. I haven't tried to get it replaced, I think that Ford will claim damage is from road hazard, not their fault. But I have not said anything, will also run by dealer.

Got my new tail lights installed and picked up the SHO today. I was supposed to get the new lights installed last Friday. The replacements show up "smashed" so another set had to be ordered. Had the car tinted while it was there and it looks great. Next up......some H&R springs for a little lower ride.........

I noticed that my 2011 has peeling chrome on the tail lights now as well. When I was speaking with my buddy at Ford about it, I asked if we could order the tail lights from an SE or SEL so that they wouldn't be trimmed in chrome like the SHO. (a thing that I dislike about the SHO tail lights) He said that wouldn't work because Ford will only be for the EXACT replacement part..... My thoughts are to let it peel a little more and then just paint the trim in black rather than ordering another set of chrome trimmed lights that I don't like.
In regards to the Ford emblems, both the front and rear ones on my car were pitted and peeling as well. I have since removed both and replaced the rear with a custom logo. :)

Yep, I had them replace it when they did the tail lights. Great dealer service department. I asked them to check the brakes and they replaced pads, rotors and brackets under warranty.

how many miles on the car?

They did the TSB on my brakes once, but they are squeeling horribly again. at 15k, I am thinking I am out of luck.

Car in now to have taillights replaced...will update this afternoon when I get it back..next trip to body shop for hood repair. That's not happening until July 25th, every good body shop is really backed up because there's a lot of cars and trucks in my area that have some nasty hail damage.

Gonna have them replaced this afternoon too. I just had the tail lights tinted not long ago and when removing the overlapping film, the chrome stayed glued to the film... I will have to tint them again, so I am waiting for the film to arrive, but we currently have a strike of postal services in Canada.
My dealer asked me to remove the film as they have to return the lights to Ford Canada and were concerned that maybe Ford would say that it is the film that caused the peeling... So since I needed to remove the film, I took an exacto and cut the center portion where the back light is and I think it looks much better than either original or just completely darkened. You can see the picctures I took on the Tail and head lights tint thread.

Baby is in the shop -- Hope the new tails are ok this time, Mark.
I believe you said Ford has a new supplier now and now more peeling.

Sounds like the hail was an issue with your storms lately.

LOL, you think Ford would try to weasel out of the peeling issue knowing breadth of the problem on the '10's?

G/L with the replacements and retinting.

Our service manager at this Ford store that I am now working at seems great! He says that getting these replaced will be no problem and we will take care of it ASAP! It's nice to be on the inside ;)

That's great! So how do you like the new job so far? I imagine that the dealership wasn't disappointed that you were a SHO owner.
I gotta say, after checking my new taillights, I believe that the new ones do look to be just slightly better quality then the old ones. I'm looking forward to getting my Lamin-X tinting for the tails.
