hi, i put a new southbend stage 2 in my 1994, also i got a fly wheel form RCM, and new clutch cable,
ok so i have the same ams oil in it, i put new rod shifter bushings the shifter is tight,(not hard to move) and now it kind of pops into gear, i will go form 1st to 2nd and it goes back i let the clutch out and it kind of pops out, or it will pull hard and pop in gear, it shifted real nice before i all the new parts :( what did i miss or mess up?
and when the car is off it still shifts just as hard, i had to push the clutch in to get it in gear.

i looked at all the post and could find what i was looking for,
Thanks

Did you try pulling up on the clutch pedal a few time to adjust it?

I hope that amsoil is ATF.

Why did you decide on a stage 2 clutch. Are you boosted or spraying?

Try resetting the adjuster mechanism.

1. Block up the clutch pedal with a piece of wood about 7" long, or have an assistant hold it up as far as it will go.

2. Underhood, release the end of the cable from the clutch release lever and allow it to fully retract into the cable sheath, make sure your assistant keeps constant upward pressure on the pedal.

3. Reattach the cable end to the release lever, then stop pulling up on the pedal or remove the wood block.

4. Stroke the clutch pedal slowly once to the floor and slowly release it, this should reset the adjuster mechanism.

Report back.

I would check all of you rod shifter connections to make sure everything is installed properly and to spec. This sounds like a shifter problem from the work you performed, I don't believe you are having full travel to properly engage the synchronizer.

You can test this by removing the rod shifter from the shift shaft on the transmission. It is held by one bolt, this is what you remove. Once removed, install a small screw driver or drift tool inside the bolt hole on the shift shaft and manually change the gears. If the problem is no longer, it's the shifter.

well, i think i fixed it.......i think i had some water and cleaner get into the transmission when i was cleaning it, i tried to plug the holes when cleaning, i drained the fluid and it looked tainted, i put 3 quarts on mobil 1 syn (drain plug mod) and it is shifting about 70% better, i put about 4 miles on it, i hope it gets better when it works in.
