Back in Michigan ... again.
Just curious, as this car has now made appearances all around the country and there's definitely some polarization going on about the car, both for and against. NOT trying to discredit, defame, accuse, attack, ridicule or otherwise make trouble. Just interested to see, at this point, who's been up close and personal with the car and who's just seen pictures. Also curious as to the folks, through whatever means, have already had a bit of seat time.

This will NOT turn into a bash fest OR a praise fest people. If you have something constructive to add, feel free to post. If you just want to run your mouth and cause trouble, you'll be dealt with accordingly :)

Wish I could say I have had the extreme pleasure of being next to it or even sit in it but not yet just pictures and write ups so far.:dribble:

I saw it at the NYC auto show. The doors were locked and I was unable to sit inside. So I'm waiting for one to SHO up at my dealer.

Only got to second base with it. Couldn't find a ford guy to let me in at Carlisle... but I did see the trunk, and my goodness. That is a huge trunk. Easily twice the size of a Gen 2's...

i had the joy of crawling around in it, smelling the new leather, feeling how slipping into the driver's seat was like climbing into the cockpit of something fun. i do rather enjoy how encapsulated one feels behind the wheel...everything's very well in reach of the driver, and the back seat's big enough for my fat ass to get comfy in. this'll make a nice road trip car.

I stood next to one at the New York Auto Show, but sadly I did not get to sit in it :frown:.

Had the joy of sitting in one and playing with the accesories...like radio, and other electronics. I love the car but can not afford one these days.

You could have today, didn't you check my update a couple days ago or were you just unavailable to go? And driven too! I didn't know until getting there that driving it was possible, but it was.

I had the pleasure today for the 1st time to not only see, but ride and drive also, although it wasn't near enough of one to really get much of a feel for how much I would like it long term. I do really like the wheels and front end and rest of exterior is okay to good. Interior is awesome all around except the visor looking part of the dash being so diff than anything I've really ever seen before would take a little to get used to. Looks pretty good under the hood and trunk is huge.

I had a good half hour or so of climbing all over the one in Carlisle, and for the most part I like what I see. Of course driving one will be the biggest factor in helping decide whether or not I buy one.

There were a handful of things I didn't care for such as the paddle shifters seeming a little chintzy, the ginormous wheel gap, and the chrome. The MAF also looks a bit undersized, and overall it looks like working under the hood may prove something of a challenge. What I found interesting about the size is I think the design of the car makes it look a lot bigger than it really is. I think lowering the car is going to improve overall appearance and should help make it look a little less huge.

but I did see the trunk, and my goodness. That is a huge trunk. Easily twice the size of a Gen 2's...

I've had the Joy of logging 100+ miles combined in 4 different SHO's.

-Sam

Sam and I are in the same boat!! Looks like we are the 3% there Sam! Hooray for us brother! Heck, that's not even including the 500+ miles we have done in the 2010 Limiteds and SELs to compare to the SHO.:woo-hoo:

The MAF also looks a bit undersized...

In fact the MAF is so undersized that it's missing!!!

The 2010 EcoBoost engine does not have a MAF, it runs speed / density. That eliminates one of the aftermarket options, but probably opens up some others.

I've driven one, but not far.

Drove one for a while a week ago. Managed to convince the dealer to let a 20 year old kid drive a brand new SHO.

Drives smooth as butter, but you can feel the weight of it. I obviously wasn't allowed to throw it around corners, but it just did not feel like it was on rails. I guess I had high expectations.

As for performance, I wasn't too impressed. I expected a little more, but damn those things are heavy and it really shows. I wish I could hear the engine more too, and I kind of miss the sound of secondaries.

All in all, I wasn't too impressed with it. Looks great and it is a nice luxury car, but not a SHO in my definition...its just too refined.

Isn't S/D a preferred method of air metering in F/I applications? I know a lot of mustang guys will switch to a S/D system when installing a blower on their cars. I might be wrong...

I hope your not taking this as "bashing". Just what constitutes "appearances all around the country"? The only "new" Ford Product that showed up at the biggest all Ford car show in Oregon was the Fiesta. I'm sorry, but Ford marketing needs to look at a map and see that "all over the country" isn't the upper Mid-West and the East Coast. I know we can get our Northwest group together if it made an appearance in the Northwest. Ford Marketing, if your reading this, Suburban Ford in Sandy Oregon. Contact John Bolles.

I didn't think these were in dealerships yet. Are you making this up?

The SHO is on a what Ford is calling "The Summer of Taurus" 100 city tour across the country and it isn't done yet. Of course I'm sure most if not all the stops are in the bigger Metro city areas, but it is supposed to cover most of the country. The one that was here in MN yesterday is headed for Nebraska next, don't know where exactly or what day (may have even been today). Keep an eye out, maybe it will still be somewhere in the area?
