My near flawless '98 was hit by a 17 yea old female driver last week. My SHO has not seen rain or snow since 2001. Always garaged and stored in the winter. Anyway, I am looking for some 100% rust free left door shells. I think I have found a quarter panel locally. Thanks for any help! 13245361_10153670695153435_6213295526942043627_n.jpg 13260016_10153670695108435_4284922658012717333_n.jpg 13260016_10153670695108435_4284922658012717333_n.jpg

That was a solid hit, and that wrinkle over the rear wheel is not good news.

The insurance company will be writing that off, so be prepared with lots of sales figures of these cars from forums and craigslist and whatever. And be sure it is not branded as "salvage". Be there when the adjuster shows up, and give him your bundle of sales figures that you have amassed. He will eventually counter you numbers with a list of parts cars that have been sold that have been unlicenced for years.

You don't know it yet, but you have a fight on your hands. Your immaculate care will simply be recorded as routine maintenace, and although it will be rated in "above average" condition, it will only advance you pennies on the final price.

Good luck and we hope it turns out better than I have portrayed this coming event.

sperold I am fully aware. The shop that the SHO is at is owned by one of my friends. I have given him a pile of "evidence" to fight the case with State Farm (her insurance). I know if we fix it there will be some money coming out of my pocket to get it done. I just want to find the best parts still available being new stuff is either not available or stupid expensive.

I painted the picture that I did because it happened to me, and I hope you have a better outcome.

The nice thing about the SHO is the doors of any same year Taurus will fit as long as you are willing to transfer all of you keypad components and your interior panels.

But the truth of it is, you are more likely to find SHO parts, as the regular Taurus models have pretty well disappeared.

I would contact SV&HOdan on this forum to find the doors, but the Pennsylvania location will require a holiday road trip.

The wrecking yards use an exclusive shipping company (I think it is called Cardinal) where they ships things for amazingly low prices, to other wrecking yards, so look into that for a shipping answer.

    Good luck on this.

I have a good bunch of V8 SHO parts, but I am in Chicago. I have learned that when one says 'Chicago' to a car, it begins to rust.

Do you also need non-body parts? Maybe I can help there. Let me know.

I'll let you know if I need any non-body parts. At this point I think I am out as far as that is concerned, but the car has not had the left side door taken off yet.

Thanks for the assist. The "Cardinal" is something I'll have to mention if I need things shipped.

Just for reference, doors are usually about $50.00 each for excellent ones, I have bought them for $25.00 each, when I took all four. But it is a crapshoot, and you never know your luck. It is not out of the question that you could get them in your original color.
Again, good luck with this project.

    Hi,

I had the same fight to do last falls. An old woman hit me on the side : the fender and the 2 doors were scrapped, my insurance compagny just want to scrap the car and let me buy something else for 1000-1500$ !?*&?* I sent them all infos I have (a lot) and debate with the insurance guy for some months (saying I will contest their decision and promessing that I will repair all). After 3 months, the insurance guy (which was very kind even all this) call me and offer me 3000$ which was a little more than I bought the car but not enought to repair all. Better than 1000$, I accepted and decided to do the rest by myself. Always be kind but determinated with insurance people, it will help a little in your favor. (However, try to talk to a guy, they will better understand our "sickness" for these cars. I promess to mine to give it a ride when he was ready...)

In other way, I thing I found something for you... pm sent.

Update: After a lot of back and forth with State Farm I settled with them for $6,000 and keeping the SHO. I just ordered most of the needed parts for the car yesterday ($3,500+). Hopefully the SHO will be back on the road in a month...or so :)

The doors (drivers front & drivers rear) I found used in Texas. Everything else (a lot of stuff) I purchased BRAND NEW through a parts outlet out of Minnesota. That includes a new quarter panel!

Yep I own a dodge truck in PA....I know it has a frame and our unibodys are structural....I've done it. Use torches and brass brazing rods for tightning things up it works awsome and will not rust.

There's a complete v8, scranton PA craigslist needs a valbe body in the trans. 500 iirc check it out man. good luck with rebuild!
